News Notes From

Little Miss Susan Robertson,
my neighbor, is celebrating her
7th birthday today and on Sun
day, September 29th. my other
little neighbor, Marsha Galloway
celebrated her sth birthday. So to
make a good beginning for Salem
personal news, let me say Hi! to
these two nice young ladies and
wish them “Many Happy Returns”
of the day.
Speaking of birthdays-we just
gotta tell this. Last Wednesday
morning, my telephone rang, an
swering it I heard a very excited
grandmother say “I’ve got twin
grand-daughters”. It was Mrs.
E. W. Allen calling to tell me of
the arrival of their first grand
children and one could tell by her
voice how happy the whole fam
ily was with the arrival of Mr.
and Mrs. Nelson Allen's first
babies. It was a first all around
for this family and we send
congratulations to them.
Congratulations are in order
for Rev. and Mrs. Gene Nease at
the Methodist Parsonage for o n
September 29th their first daughter
arrived at Newton Hospital and
has received the name Tammy
Lyn. Mrs. Norma Nease of Pheo
nix City, Ala., who is now visit-

On Sunday. September 29th, Mr.
and Mrs. Jimmy Darby’s little
1 son arrived at Newton Hospital.
He has been given the name Allen
Burris Darby. Mr. and Mrs. J. C.
Darby of our community are the
parental grandparents. Mr. and
Mrs. Burris Snow of Porterdale
are the maternal grandparents.
Congratulations to all these happy
folks.
Little June Hilton, the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Hilton
is sick at this writing and we in
clude a speedy recovery wish for
everyone who is sick along with
a wish for her speedy r e-
covery.
Mr. and Mrs. Edd Daniel of
East Point; Mrs. Melba Polk and
Miss Vickie Polk of Porterdale
and Gary Chambers were a 11
luncheon guests of Mrs. Vallie
Chambers, Sunday. Mr. and Mrs.
Daniel will soon be getting the
“Welcome Neighbor” greeting be
cause they will be building their
new home just above Plane View
(our home) beginning real soon.
We are happy to have this fine
young couple returning to Salem
for residence.

they all went to Porterdale for a
visit with Mr. and Mrs. T. C.
Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Har
vey Rollins.

Mr. and Mrs. Emory Hayes and

Lt. Monroe Hayes has recover
ed sufficiently from his recent
accident that he had while visit
ing his parents, the James L.
Hayes. He is returning to Fort
Benning Hospital for further sur
gery on his face on Monday. Good
luck Monroe!

hem with the Fears.

Jr. of Bethlehem were back i n
Salem for a few days last week,
visiting around with friends. Their
headquarters while here was with
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Moore and Mr.
and Mrs. Gene Stallsworth. Rev.
Mr. Fears was attending a min
isters conference at Rock Eagle.
