Oak Hill

What a fine thing to have
friends for foul weather as well
as fair. Who else but Miss
Mary Cade Mandus, Cathy All-
good and Katie Plaster would
have braved Friday’s tempest
and plowed through the red j
mud of Christian Circle, which
is the new name of our road,
previously called Pigpen Alley
by our girls, when the mud was
hock deep on the horses. Very
little riding was done due to
the rain on Saturday and Sun
day’s icey blasts, however,
there were many marshmal
lows roasted, eight kittens well
cuddled, an odd looking cake
baked, a Christmas tree cut
and dragged up from the past
ure. many Carols sung, an
armload of mistletoe shot out
of the big oak tree with the 22.
We even fetched home a new
horse, a blood bay with white
stockings and a blaze, located
for us by our good friend,
George Miller and bearing the
fine old Irish name of Casey.
He looks like a fine addition
to the Little Hope remuda.
Monday evening found the
members of the Woman’s Soc
iety of Christian Service meet
ing at the home of Mrs. Celia
Farmer for their December
program and Christmas party.
The house was beautifully fes
tive with the warmth of the
Holy season, which seemed to
draw all into closer kinship
with the Child of Bethlehem.
We decided to do something
special for some one who has
meant much to us all. The
table was loaded with goodies,
and as gifts were exchanged
and plates loaded, calories were
forgotten.
The choir of Prospect church
wishes to express gratitude to
all those who came to hear the
Christmas music last Sunday
evening. Also to Barbara Hori
day evening of the W. D. Wel
dons Sr.
We are glad Mr. John Gilbert
is much better. We trust he will
soon be on the road to r e
covery.
Sincere sympathy is extended
to the family of Mrs. Earl A.
Meyer (Sara Piper) in her pass
ing last week. We commend them
to the loving Father, who alone
oan heal their broken hearts.
