Christmas Coffee at Campbell Home
One of Highlights of This Yule Season
A morning coffee at which
Mrs. R. Pat Campbell was
hostess at her home, on Friday
morning, was among current
highlights of the Yuletides soc
ial calendar.
Introducing the Christmas
theme was the wicker medall
ion, interlaced with red velvet
and centered with a cleverly
contrived reindeer, with bells,
and decorative greenery, on the
front door. Greeting guests
there was Miss Madelyn Bates,
who wore a gold costume in
wool jersey.
One of Mrs. Campbell’s
ceramic creations, a green
Christmas tree, with minute
flashing lights, was used with
Kimberly Pace
Baptized Sunday
Kimberly Lee Pace, the infant
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard
Pace of Atlanta, was presented
for Christmas Baptism by her pa
rents on Sunday morning. Decem
ber 22, at the Mansfield Methodist
Church. The Rev. Wallace Roberts
performed the service prior to the
regular morning service before
an altar arrangement of white
gladiolus and mammoth chrysan
themums.
Little Kim wore a Christening
dress of white satin and lace which
was made of some of the material
left from her mother’s wedding
gown. Her white satin shoes were
a gift of a cousin and the tiny gold
heart-shaped locket she wore was
a gift ot her God-parents.

County Line Baptist Church

Dec. 14th at the home of Mrs.

Blanche Knight and Mrs. Julia
Loyd as co-hostesses. Thirty
members and guests attended.
The regular business meeting
preceded the social hour. It was
reported that the order had
been placed for the shrubbery
for church grounds. The Glean
er’s Class is grateful for gifts
toward this project from Mrs.
Pauline Boyd. Mrs. Carolyn
Kadingo, and the Young Mat
ron’s Class. The annual custom
of wishing six shut-ins a Merry

Given by Mesdames Dearing and Pratt
Mrs. Ivy Smith, houseguest
of her sister, Mrs. Moody Sum
mers. Sr., was the inspiration
for one of the delightful holi
day festivities, when Mrs. Peri
no Dearing and Mrs. P. W.
Pratt entertained at a luncheon
in her honor, at the former’s
home, on Monday.
The Christmas theme was
featured throughout the rooms
thrown ensemble for the oc
casion. The gaily trimmed and
lighted Christmas tree was the
focal point of the living room,
where small topiary trees of
I caroling figurines on the en
trance hall table.
Pink into crimson formed
the living room color scheme,
with white, pedestal urns of
pink roses flanking the floor
length window. Charming to
piary trees of pink and red
roses were used on the mantel, I
where a green garland was
caught up with terminating red
satin bows; and a pink net
Christmas tree on the secretary
held tiny red ornaments.
The refreshment table, over
laid with lace trimmed net over
pastel blue satin, held a center
piece of cleverly combined cry
stal pieces, holding pink and
red ornaments, with base ar-

The Fidelis Sunday School Class
of the First Baptist Church met ;
at the lovely home of Mrs. Robert
Nash on Wednesday afternoon,
December 18. with 15 members
present and Mrs. W. C. Mathis

itor.
The home was beautifully de-

ed with a luncheon at their home
for the guests immediately after
the church service.
Christmas with baskets of fruit
will be followed. The class also
participated in a pantry shower
for a needy family.
Mrs. Loyd brought the devo
tional and several members
read Christmas poems. Gifts
were exchanged among the
members from secret pals and
the names of each were dis
closed. The class presented the:

gloves.
A delicious and bountiful
supper was served to the class
’ members and their husbands.

The luncheon table held an
elongated composition of
Christmas ribbon balls and
boxwood foliage. A golden
pheasant with brown magnolia
foliage background, on the
mantel, was flanked by small
gilded Christmas trees.

on draped neckline, for the
occasion.

cluded in the coffee’s guest list.

The many beautifully wrapped
gifts under the tree further ac
centuated the Christmas theme.
। Mrs. Bush, president, welcomed
। everyone and thanked Mrs. Nash
for allowing the members to
meet in her home. She than gave
the history of the song, "Little
Town of Bethlehem”, which was
written by Philip Brooks and was
first sung by his Sunday School
children in 1865. The group then
sang the song in unison.
Miss Mae Greer read the Scrip
ture from Luke 2:8-14, closing
with prayer. Mrs. J. F. Biggers
called the roll and read the min
utes of the last meeting. Reports
from various committees were
given. Mrs. Mable Smith, report
ing for the Sunshine Committee,
told of visiting shutins and carry
ing them small tokens. Miss Louise
Skelton reported on cards sent to
sick and bereaved with Mrs. Nash
taking the collection and giving
the treasurer’s report.
At the conclusion of the business
session the group joined hands and

business sessions. Reports were
given from various committees
and Mrs. Roy Kirkus, secretary.

Dr. J. B. Weatherspoon. The clos
ing prayer was given by Mrs.

Went Caroling
Members of Almon MYF went
Christmas Caroling Sunday night
after church to entertain the sick
and shut-ins. At the conclusion of
the Caroling they went to the
home of Mrs. Jeff Smith and Mr.
and Mrs. John Z. Capes, where
they were served hot chocolate,
cookies, candy and Christmas
colored pop corn.
The group will sing Sunday
night at church and everyone is
, invited to attend and he~r the
MYF group sing.

25% increase over that of last
year. The December project
chosen by the group included
rememberances and cards to
the Elderly and Shut-ins.
Mrs. Sawyer McMichael will
be hostess to the circle for the
January meeting, on Thursday,
January 16.

Observe 50th Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. JOe W. Laseter
were honored Sunday after
noon, December 22, with a re
ception in honor of their 50th
wedding anniversary, at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Julius
Laseter at 1309 Linwood Drive,
given by their children.
The home was beautifully
decorated in carrying out the
traditional theme in gold in
observance of the occasion as
well as carrying out the Christ- |
mas theme. The entrance table ।
where the guest book was kept I
by Mrs. Guy Schell, wearing a ;
blue wool dress with white car- I
nation corsage and gold ribbon
bow, held a single gold candle
' stick with a pink lighted can
dle, and the guest book which
was a gift.
Greeting guests with the
' honorees were Mr. and Mrs.
। Julius Laseter and Mrs. Billy
I Laseter, wearing black velvet
; and blue silk with white car
| nation corsages and gold bows.
! Mrs. Laseter was attractively
j dressed in a red brocade with
which she wore a white gold
throated orchid corsage with
gold bow, the gift of her eldest
grandchild, Doug Dooley.
The refreshment table was
covered with a gold satin cloth
which was overlaid with gold
net caught up at each corner
with gold wedding bells tied
with pink satin bows and
streamers. At one end of the
long table the beautifully dec
orated three tiered wedding
cake was resting on a pale pink
malene net ruffle. White icing
roses were interspersed with
gold leaves forming a decora
tive design to the top of the
cake which held gold miniature
। heJ,Li topped with a gold “50" in
। a gold wreath.
At the opposite end of the
table a pink milk glass punch
bowl with pink cups were con
nected to two gold candlesticks
with pink burning candles by
a green wreath. Completing the
table's appointments were sil
ver trays of party mints and
mixed nuts and napkins im
printed in gold. Serving the
cake was Mrs. Jack Dooley,
guests of Mr. and Mrs. H. G.
Jones.

ed by a legendary Christmas
'story.
Business transacted included
Group Captain’s reports and a
community project for the
class.
At the close of the business
session, the Class Christmas
Party was held. The living and
dining rooms were beautifuilv
decorated for Christmas and
music was softly played while
the guest played interesting
games. Members then gathered
around the beautiful tree to ex
change gifts. Coffee, cake, nuts,
and candy were served by the
hostesses.
