Miss Doris Rice, Luke Fuller
Wed At Porterdale Church
Miss Mamie Doris Rice, daugh
ter of Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Rice,
Sr. of Porterdale, and Luke C.
Fuller, son of Mrs. Nettie Fuller
and the late S. R. Fuller of Cov
ington, were united in marriage
in an impressive double - ring
ceremony at the Porterdale Bap
tist Church on Saturday evening.
December 21. An arch created of
twenty-eight white tapers flanked
by two massive arrangements of
white gladioli and pompon mums
in the midst of stately jade fern
trees beautified the sanctuary.
Nine branched tree candelabra on
either side of the chancel perfect
ed the setting for the sacred ser
vice performed by the Rev. Mr.
Guy Davidson. The eight o’clock
service was attended by a large
group of friends and relatives.
Miss Carol Burch of Covington
rendered an interesting program
of appropriate organ nuptial mus
ic and accompanied her father,
Herbert Burch, who sang “Be
cause”.
Usher groomsmen were Jimmy
Preston and Paul Ketchem, nep
hew’s of the bride.
Mr. Fuller chose his twin bro
ther. George, as his best man.
The radiant bride, w’ho wa s
presented in marriage by her
father, wore a traditional white
satin brocade dress w'hose senti
ment was enhanced because she
had hand-fashioned it for this
special occasion. At the scallop
ed neckline, she wore a single
strand of pearls, and the lily point
sleeves were fastened with tiny
covered buttons. Its voluminous
pleated skirt extended to form a
chapel train. Her fingertip veil of
illusion net cascaded from a coro
net embelished with pearls and
woven nylon leaves. The bride
carried a white Bible, the gift of
the YWA of the Porterdale Bap
tist Church, which was adorned
with a bouquet of royal bouquet
orchids and feathered carnations.
In her apparel, she honored the
tradition of something old, new,
borrowed, and blue.
Miss Sara Preston, the bride’s
niece of Jesup. Georgia, was the
maid of honor. She wore a flatter
ing street length model of red,
satin brocade with scalloped neck
line and brief sleeves. The V
shaped bodice was fastened to a
very full skirt. A white fur muff
with a cascade of red carnations
matched her fur bandeau, and she
wore red satin pumps.
The bridesmaids, who were nie
ces of the bride, were dressed
identical to the maid of honor.
They w'ere: Mrs. Paul Ketchem
of Covington and Miss Mary Ellen
Preston of Jesup, Georgia.
The flower girl, little Linda Jo
Myers, the groom’s niece, in a
red silk organza over taffeta
dress trimmed with rows of white
lace, scattered carnation petals
from a wicker basket.
Barry Farmer was his uncle's
ring bearer.
The mother of the bride wore a
