Says . .
I am so glad that I don’t
think of the cemetery as the
end of life.
The Bible teaches me that
the body is just the tene
ment, or house, for the real
person, or soul. It is a won
derful dwelling place and we
come to love it and often
grow to love it so we make
no distinction between it and
the real person it houses.
When it suffers we worry
and try to relieve it, and
weep when our efforts fail,
and the real individual
moves out, and transfers to
a more commodious dwell
ing.
According to custom we
take the cold empty, tene
ment, out to the cemetery,
place it in the vault, cover
it with flowers, and break
our hearts over it, as we try
to resume our daily routine
minus the dear familiar
form. As the days pass we
miss the companionship more
and more. We do not realize
that our grief is a form of
selfishness. It is we who are
deprived! It is we who must
walk alone. It is we who
must carry the burden alone.
It is we who must face life
and carry the responsibility
of deciding issues alone.
We forget the assurance
the Savior gave us when he
said, “In my Father’s house
are many mansions (not
mere tenements). If is were
not so I would have told you.
I go to prepare a place for
you. And if I go and prepare
a place for you I will come
again and receive you unto
myself; that where I am
there ye may be also ... I
am the Way, the Truth, and
the Life. No man cometh
unto the Father but by me.”
Then to make assurance
doubly sure, He came back
and spoke to his servant

John, on Patmos, saying.
"God shall wipe away all
tears from their eyes; and
there shall be no more death,
neither sorrow, nor crying,
neither shall there be any
more pain for the former
things are passed away.”
"And there shall be no more
curse; but the throne of God
and the Lamb shall be in it
and His servants shall serve
him ,and they shall see His
face. There shall be no night
there ... for the Lord God
giveth them light and they
shall reign forever and for
ever!" "Behold I come quick

me.” This to those who go!
My father used to say that
if we Christians really be
lieved what we profess to
believe, we should rejoice
instead of mourn when God
calls one of our loved ones to
come up higher and releases
him from all the trials and
sufferings of this life; we
should merely strive to be
ready to join him when the
call comes to us.
James Russell Lowell

“Just beyond the dim un

Standeth God, within the
shadow,
Keeping watch upon His
own!"
Watching over those who
have gone on before, and
over us, as we carry on and
wait.

MAN’S ENVIRONMENT
TOO POLLUTED
Man faces the possibility
of contaminating his envir

supporting human life, says
Emory University biologist
Dr. Robert Platt in a recent
article in the biological
journal, “BioScience. ’’
The public should think
of the implications of “find

presumably in all forms of
life but also of recently find

Platt says.
