cently undergone major surgery,
had recovered sufficiently to at
tend the morning worship service
at the Porterdale Baptist Church
on Sunday. During the week
end, his guests included: Mr.
and Mrs. Ed Rawls and family
of Hapeville, Mr. and Mrs. James
Patterson of Lithonia, and Paul
Elkins of Newnan.

family of Waynesboro, Mississi

kins. Mr. Banks was in Georgia
as a representative of the Mar

visited Georgia Baptist Hospital
on Sunday, January 24, and saw
Mrs. Elmer Blankenship, Mr.
Jesse George, a former resident
of Porterdale, and the family of
Mr. Hugh steadham, who remains
seriously 111.

are happy that he has been dis
missed from the Newton County
Hospital and is recuperating at
his home In Oxford, Georgia.

Friends of Miss Pauline Hard
man regret that her mother, Mrs.
Paul Hardman, was admitted to
the Elbert County Hospital In
Elberton, on Saturday, January
23, after suffering a stroke at
the home of her daughter, Mrs.
Lloyd Reagan, with whom she
was spending the winter months.

continues to Improve at the home
of her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Albert Fincher, after undergoing
surgery at Jessie Parker Wil
liams Hospital in Atlanta.

the past two weeks while recov
ering from a broken ankle.

of the Women of the Church of
the Fourth District, Atlanta Pre
sbytery, was hostess at a lunch
eon meeting at the Porterdale
Presbyterian Church on January
24 to which local Presidents
and Presbyterial officers were
invited. Mrs. Dewey Shirah,
President of the Porterdale Pre
sbyterian WOC and the Rev. Mr.
I. G. Rudolph were included in
the guest list.

that he was Injured in a hunting
accident near his home on Wed
nesday afternoon, January 20.
In spite of undergoing surgery
to remove a bullet from his
heel, he returned to Newton
County High School on Monday,
January 25.

Completes A.F.
Basic Training

man Nathaniel H. Mitchell, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Nathaniel H.
Mitchell of 305 Conyers St., Cov
ington, Ga„ has completed Air
Force basic military training
at Lackland AFB, Tex.
Airman Mitchell has been se
lected for technical training as an
aircraft maintenance specialist
at the Air Training Command
(ATC) school at Sheppard AFB,
Tex. His new unit is part of the
vast ATC system which trains
airmen and officers in the diverse
skills required by the nation s
aerospace force.
The airman, a 1963 graduate
of R. L. Cousins High School,
attended Clark College, Atlanta,
Ga.
