Money! Money! Money! What
will not folks do for money?
Recently we have read of men
risking their lives diving to try
to retrieve the gold that went
to the bottom of the sea in
Spanish Galleons hundreds of
years ago. Even scientists are
using all of their knowledge and
Inventions at enormous expense
to dredge up and recover that
gold. Think how many lives have
been lost in connection with it!
Those Spanish ships sailed

Innocent inhabitants, .. . .Incas,

Destroyed their kingdoms, and
people, to get, by fair means or

cost many lives to assemble.
It was all blood tainted. Ixiubt
less if the blood it cost could be

the gold itself! And yet men are
willing to sacrifice more Ilves
to bring it up from its watery

to be stored, and again robbed!
For where on earth can money
be placed really safe from
thieves?
Is it a sin to have, or earn
money? Paul says ini Tim. 6:10,
•'The love of money is the root
of all evil.”
Jesus says, "Lay not up for
yourselves treasures upon earth
where moth and rust corrupt,
and where thieves break through
and steal, but lay up treasures
in heaven where thieves
do not break through and steal.
For where your treasurer is,
there will be your heart also ..

Mammon."
He goes on in that same sixth
chapter of Matthew to tell us that
our heavenly Father knows we

Club Tuesday at the Teen Can
President Jim Purcell Introduced
Dallas Tarkenton, program
chairman, who in turn presented
T. K. Patterson, General Mana
ger of the shirt manufacturing
operation of the Oxford Manu
facturing Company from Dublin.
Mr. Patterson traced the op
eration of the Covington Manu
facturing Company and its parent
organization, The Oxford Manu
facturing Company. He stated
the apparel Industry was highly
competitive and great strides
had been made since the 1900’s,
when plants were mostly located
in the large cities, with poor
working conditions.
By 1920 movements of the in
dustry spread to the South. Large
numbers of laborers, mostly wo
men, were employed and with the
minimum wage laws and competi
tion in the trade, forced efficiency
brought many improvements. It
the kingdom of God and His
righteousness and all these things
shall be added to you."
So, from God’s word we learn
that money Is not everything.
It is a convenience, and easier
to handle than produce, in ex
change along life’s way.
It is a good servant, but a poor
master.
So let us not make money the
end and aim of life. Let us be
willing to do an honest day’s
work for reasonable renumera
tlon and trust our Heavenly
Father to show us how to live
within our Income as we serve
Him In the building of His King
dom on earth. And let us trust
Him to meet all of our needs,
remembering that we are not
saved by corruptable things such
as silver and gold, but by the life
blood of our Lord and Saviour,
Jesus Christ.
