What I Have Learned In 4-H
(Continued From 21)
with them knowledge learned and
experiences gained. I know that
winning high honors and awards
is only a small part of the
true 4-H traditions and accom
plishments. I enjoy 4-H for the
fun of being in such an organ
ization where learning is avail=-
able for the taking, where opport
unities exist for the older 4-H'er
to help the younger ones know
about projects and demon
strations and help them prepare
for competition and the ‘‘growing
up’’ that 4-H helps us all to do.
1 particularly enjoy the part
of learning through 4-H that efi;fi
ables you to make new friends, °

My Love For 4-H
BY BONNIE JOHNSON
My name is Bonnie Johnson
and 1 attend the eighth grade
class at E, L., Ficquett School.
This is my 4th year working
with 4-H and my love grows
deeped each day. My ambit
ifons are that someday 1 will
be a leader or an assistant in
a 4-H Club of America. I enjoy
my projects of 4=H very much,
especially the project on ““Foods
and Nutrition.,”” 1 am the type
who loves to mix something up
and come out with a new idea.
This is why my favorite project
is Foods and Nutrition.
The other projects in which
I have had some experience are
just as helpful and enjoyable,
but still my favorite consists of
Foods and Nutrition.
Last summer 1 attended the
District Project Achievement
meeting where I received fourth
place for my Better Breakfast
demonstration. This was three
days I'll never forget. When
I got there that evening, I found
out that my demonstration would
be that same evening and was
I glad because 1 was as afraid
as 1 could be. But you know,
I did it as carefully as I could
and there, before 1 knew it,

it was all over and I hated it
so much because every minute
of my demonstration was as noth
ing else. After my demonstrat
fon, then I had all the free time
in which Icould swim, read, sleep
or anything else 1 wanted to do.
Now as you can easily see, that’s
why 1 enjoyed it so much. Il
never forget that three day ex
perience and all the other exper
fences that have occurred to me
in 4-H,
Someday I want to be an out
standing 4-H’er who can say
without a doubt, ‘I did mybest?’’.
Right now my goal is to get
there, and I sincerely believe
that I will,
4-H has really meant a lot
to me in the past four years
and I wish every boy and girl
could know the fun of being in
4-H Club work.

THE COVINGTON NEWS
BY WALTER BENTLEY
For those of you who still
think that 4-H is an organiz
ation for members of our rural
communities -- you are wrong.
4-H has many, many opportun=
ities offered for those who do
not live in rural areas.
During my years as a 4-H
Club member, I have worked
with Automotive Safety and Elect
ricity. While working in these
areas, I was kept up-to-date
with changes being made inthese
fields.
If you aren’t interested in these
fields, there are many others
such as Dairying, Entomology,
Home Improvement, Safety,
Tractor, Recreation, and Gar
dening. Some projects available
for the girls are Clothing, Foods
and Nutrition, Canning, Food
Preservation, Family Life and
