MY 4-H STORY
(Continued From 17)
college.
In 1961 I went to my first
camp which was Camp Fulton.
I learned many new things at
this camp. Since this camp I
have attended Rock Eagle and
Wahsega. These camps have
given me an opportunity to know
many other boys and girls from
this county as well as from other
parts of the State.
Last year was a good Club
year for me. I entered my calf
at the Newton County Fair and
won 2nd place. The judge told
me that my calf was a good
dairy animal but did not show
too well in the ring. I entered
county eliminations in the dairy
project and won first place. Next
I went on to District Project
Achievement Meeting at Rock
Eagle and won the District con
test.
1 was Secretary-Treasurer of
my local club in 1962-63. This
was a new experience for me and
one from which I learned a great
deal.
On July 10, 1962, I gave my
dairy demonstration to the mem-=
bers of the Georgia Holstein
Association at a Holstein Field
Day held on the Sam B, Hay,
Jr. Dairy Farm. There were
about 100 in attendance at this
meeting. It was a real pleasure
for me to appear on the same
program with Mr. W, H, Mc-
Kinney, Extension Dairyman and
Dr. Carl Clifton of the Univer=-
sity of Georgia Dairy Depart
ment. I know that doing things
of this sort will help me in
everything I do.
I have been on three Dairy
Day Judging teams to the Un=-
iversity of Georgia. I have
judged on the livestock judging
team in addition to my dairy
judging. My team placed 7th
out of 18. This was held in
Newnan, Ga.
I went to Greenville, Ga. on a
land judging team and found this
4-H Club activity to be very
interesting.
4-H Club work has been very
rewarding for me. I know that
I must put forth every effort
to be a good Club member and
that my rewards will be in pro
portion to my efforts.
