1 want to use our space
this week to say how I feel
about Thanksgiving --
Christmas -- and business.
Christmas Is a wonderful
time of year. And the mer
chants who furnish special
decorations, music for shop
pers, and Santa Claus — all
make the Christmas season
even more enjoyable.
But there seems to be a
move on now by a lot of stores
across the country to start
the Christmas ‘hullaballu’
earlier and earlier, Instead
of waiting till after Thanks
giving the way we used to do.
The Atlanta newspapers
have devoted full page ads
this year trying to convince
everyone that Christmas ad
vertising should start before
Thanksgiving Day. If Santa
comes before Thanksgiving
this year, how long will It be
until he starts dropping In
about Halloween time?
It seems to me that If we
break the tradition, two
things will eventually hap
pen: (1) We will forget the
special day we should all set
aside to count our blessings;
(2) We will drag Santa around
so far ahead of Christmas he
will be too tired to deliver
the gifts when the big night
finally rolls around each
year.
We would like to knowhow
you folks feel about this.
Please let us hear from you.
Happy Thanksgiving —
from Southern Manor Home
Furnishings.
