Attended 10 th District Meeting
The Tenth District meeting
of the American Legion and
American Legion Auxiliary was
held in Lincolnton on Sunday
June 5, at the American Legion
Home. The joint meeting con
sisted of a religious service,
after which a delicious barbecue

in the afternoon at which time,
reports were given and trophies
and awards were presented. Mrs.
Catherine Frost, District Pres
ident for the Auxiliary, presided
over the meeting.
New officers for the District
were elected as follows: Pres
ident-Mrs. J. C. McCrary of
Hardwick; First Vice-President-
Mrs. Arthur Juhan of Loganville;
Second Vice-President - M rs.
Myrtle Bradford of Lincolnton;
Historian-Mrs. Bill Thompson
of Athens; Chaplain-Mrs. S. R.
Davis of Augusta and Sergeant
At Arms-Mrs. Luke Hill of Cov
ington.
Mrs. Emily Yeck, Department
Second Vice - President, was
elected a delegate to the National
Convention, with Mrs. Walter
Frost of Augusta as alternate.
Mrs. Dan Clower of Covington,
Past Department President, con
ducted the Installation Service
for the 1966-1967 District of
ficers.
Covington Unit #32 American
Legion Auxiliary was awarded
second place in the District
Scrapbook and History, and it
will be carried to the State Con
vention in Valdosta in July for
judging.

Newton High girls who left Sunday to attend Girl’s State at the
University of Georgia, Athens, this week are: first row left to

plane, but Mr. Early is going to

Our hearts were saddened this
morning, Tuesday, when we heard
the son of Mrs. Rena Blankenship
and Mr. John Blankenship had
passed away. Jimmy graduated
from Newton High. All their
friends at County Line extend
their sincere sympathy.

in Macon Hospital.
