THE

...80X...
want to put a spark plug in your
organization. . .a sure fire one
.. .then from time to time invite
a member of Covington Jaycee’s
to speak to your organization.
Sure you are proud of them t 00...
after all they are the children
(grown up now) of our members
of other clubs. We are all proud
as hops of the Man sized job you
do Jaycees, in everything.. .but
especially Character Building!
How we did enjoy your lovely
banquet and meeting!
Our neighbors, Mr. and Mrs.
David Morrison, have brought
that darling little son, “John”
home from an Atlanta Hospital,
where the stork brought him to
brighten their home. His name
is David too. . .but they will call
him John. And Have we Fallen
In Love With HIM! My very next
door neighbor, tiny David Strick
land is about four months old now,
and how he loves the “Office
Boy!” Pshaw! That’s not con
ceit. . .if you could see him open
his mouth wide and start smiling
and kicking when he sees me you
would know what LOVE is. . .that
is another reason the Morrisons
should call their new son JOHN
. . .for with one right behind me
on East Street. . .and the other
next door. . .how would they
know which one I was calling
. . .but that would be just fine
if both of them came at the
same time. They sure do bright
en your life. . .especially when
you are so alone. . .“Yeah!
Grandmothers are like that!
Aren’t they?”
The Rotary Banquet at Porter
dale Hotel was a beautiful event,
and enjoyed by all who were
fortunate enough to attend. The
Rotary Club holds a very special
place within our heart for we
were here at the organization of
this Club. . .and had the joy of
watching an infant grow! That
Empty Stocking Fund at Christ
mas is one of it’s Major Pro
jects. . .assisted by the, long
hoped for, United Fund, now.. .it
still serves the entire community
. . .at the Holy Season.. .letting
many know that God always makes
away for Santa to visit all homes.
NOW ABOUT THE MAYOR
AND CITY MANAGER PICTURE
IN TODAY’S PAPER. . .This is
very special. We had asked
the Mayor about the X-ray. . .
and it so happened that, as a
member of the Hospital Auxili
ary, I was working at the hos
pital when in walked no' other
than the Mayor and City Man
ager. They really set a wonder
ful example for the entire County
. . .they want you to follow the
step they have made. They went
to the X-ray room. . .where
pictures, X-rays, are made by
the Hospital’s efficient staff...

Chest X-rays were in order...
for you know Cancer of the lungs
is taking maybe more lives thafi
any cause? They have set an
example for you to call, make
an appointment, get out there
and within a few minutes the X
ray is made. In the other pic
ture you will see Mrs. Dickin
son, Hospital Administrator, who
welcomed these distinguished
men, who lead the way for YOU
. . .for she knows the impor
tance of getting a check-up. Os
course we welcomed them. . .
shall I say with open arms. . .
Will you follow their example
NOW. Cancer detected in early
stages CAN be cured most of the
time. You can have it for months
and months and never feel a
pain. . .it’s a sneak thief. . .
stealing your life in the dark
ness. . .Find that trouble if
there is any NOW! Just have
the satisfaction of knowing YOU
have no signs of it. . .or you
caught it in time. . .or you are
leading those who do have it
just started. . .will go and catcli
it in time. Why are we pleading
with YOU? We lost our husband
because his chest was never X
rayed until it was too late. . .
Cancer, in it’s worst form pene
trated his entire body from the
lungs! A slow horrible death.
Please assure your safety now
with a check-up! Must get to my
job. . .of “ ‘Jest Sweepin’ Up”,
