Miss Farrow, Mr. Brown Wed
At Home Ceremony Sept. 17
Simplicity and sacredness for
med the setting for the home
wedding of Barbara Ann Farrow,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William
R. Farrow of Covington, to Char
les Kenneth Brown, the son of
Mrs. James C. Brown of Atlanta,
and the late Mr. Brown, when
they were united in marriage on
Saturday afternoon, September
17.
The couple took their sacred
vows from Judge Walton Strozler
of Oxford, before an improvised
altar of candelabra and fern trees
centered with a tall basket ar
rangement of white chrysanthe
mums and fern. Other arrange
ments throughout the home of
white chrysanthemums and wed
ding bells further carried out the
wedding theme.
J. C. Fulford of Atlanta, ser
ved as the groom’s best man and
only attendant.
Miss Jennifer Piper, maid of
honor and only attendant for the
bride, wore a light blue street
length suit with blue accessories
and a corsage of pink carnations.
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, wore a light blue
street length silk Shantung with
blue accessories and carried a
bridal bouquet of white car
nations.
Mrs. Farrow chose for her
daughter’s wedding a light blue
lace suit with white accessories
and a shoulder corsage of white
carnations. Mrs. Brown, mother
of the groom, wore a light rose
silk crepe with white accessories
and white carnation corsage.
The bride’s book was kept by
Miss Patreece Brand at a table
covered with white linen and
holding an arrangement of white
pompons.
The bride’s table and refresh
ment table were overlaid with
white linen cloths. Centering
the bride’s table was the three
tiered white embossed wedding
cake decorated with bells and
topped with a miniature bride
and groom. The refreshment
table held an arrangement of
white pompons and fern with a
crystal punch bowl and silver
trays of nuts and mints. Serving
were Miss Scottie Kirkland and
Miss Carolyn Hudson.
Following their wedding trip to
the Blue Ridge Mountains, Mr.
and Mrs. Brown are at home at
1586 Alder Lane SW, Atlanta.

this she wore navy accessories
and the orchid from her bridal
bouquet. Mr. and Mrs. Hollis
are making their home in Con
yers.
First Methodist WSCS Hears
Miss Lucy Banks Speak
The Women’s Society of Chr
istian Service of the First Met
hodist Church held their regular
monthly meeting Monday after
noon, September 19 in the Fellow
ship Hall of the church. Mrs.
Dave Bohanan and Miss Lucy
Banks served delicious refresh
ments preceding the meeting.
Mrs. Dan Clower, president,
opened the meeting with prayer,
and the group joined in singing
a hymn, with Mrs. Owen Kellum
at the piano. Mrs. Clower greet
ed everyone and presented Miss
Lucy Banks who brought an im
pressive program on "in
fluence.”
After the program, a business
meeting was held. Mrs. Jimmy
Williams, secretary, read the
minutes of the Executive Board
Meeting, and announced the Aug
ust meeting was held at Salem
Camp Ground. Mrs. A. D. Jor
dan gave the treasury report,
and it was suggested that mem
bers turn in their pledges to
Mrs. Jordan as soon as possible.
It was also announced that
Mrs. Fleming Touchstone, pro
gram material chairman, would
mail the subscriptions to the
magazine "The Methodist
Woman” on October 1, and asked
the members who desired to take
"The Methodist Woman” and
"World Outlook” to contact her
Miss Linda Henderson, Bride-Elect,
Honored At Church Shower, Friday
Miss Linda Henderson, bride
elect, was honored with a sur
prise miscellaneous shower on
Friday evening, September 23,
at New Rocky Creek Baptist
Church. Mrs. Harold Allen,
Mrs. W. C. Shepherd and Mrs.
Julius Funderburk acted as hos
tesses for the occasion.
A color scheme of yellow,
white and green was carried
out in the decorations. An in
teresting arrangement on one
table was an arrangement of yel
low and white fall flowers in a
white ceramic vase with a small
bride doll.
The hostesses led the group
in several appropriate games
in the bridal theme after which
the bride-elect was presented
several kitchen items which had
been used in the games. As the
honoree opened her many beaut
ifully wrapped gifts Mrs. Willie
Moore kept notes on the bride
elect’s comments and then read
them aloud much to the enjoyment
of all.

servicemen in Viet Nam. Mrs.
Cranston Gray discussed this
and made appropriate announce
ments.

felt members would like to re
member her.
A list of recommendations
from the Executive Committee
was given to each member who
listened as they were discussed.
The club voted to accept each of
them. They involved the sponsor
ship of the Cub Scouts, allocations
to the Welfare Committee,’the
United Fund, the CanCer Society,
and the Heart Association. New
plans for remembering sick or
bereaved friends were adopted
and an incentive for Christmas
beautification of the town was
accepted. A house committee was
named to assist in caring for the
clubroom and kitchen.
On the fourth Tuesday in each
month, from 9:00 A. M. to 9:00
P. M., members will make bed
pads and bandages for cancer
patients under the leadership of
Mrs. E. L. Digby, chairman.
Ladles were asked to keep dis
carded sheets or pillow cases
for this purpose.
The bylaws committee will be
re-entered as a standing com
mittee in the bylaws and con
stitution of the club.
The vanilla and lemon flavor
ing project will be utilized in the
regular treasury. Mrs. John
Carter and Mrs. Carl Kitchens
will be responsible for dispens
ing the flavoring.
Upon the completion of bus
iness, Tugboat Annie announced
that the ship was docking at the
Yellow River Harbor and mem
bers were invited to visit the
Candy Kitchen nearby. Mrs.
Claire Bennett was making pra
lines in the kitchen and Mrs.
Richard Lord was behind the
candy counter where fudge, date
balls, chow mein, brittle, and di
vinity were "on sale.”
Mrs. Brooks expressed ap
preciation to all participants
and to Miss Martha Ramsey for
the large replica of a ship which
provided a backdrop for the in
teresting program.

for little Kay Grant of the Ethel
Harpst Home, who visited us for
two weeks, was a wonderful suc
cess. Approximately S2OO in
clothes was given to Kay at the
party.
It was also announced the Soc
iety would serve the ministers
and wives at the Annual Christ
mas party at the church Decem
ber 12.

eral Meeting of the W.S.C.S.
The General Meeting will beheld
the 3rd Tuesday morning at 10:00
A.M. with refreshments preced
ing the meeting. A nursery will
