Tax Refunds Are
Not Automatic
ATLANTA—You will not auto
matically receive a refund of tax
withheld from your wages unless
you file a tax return, said Dr.
A. C. Ross, District Director
of Internal Revenue for Georgia.
A tax return is not required
when the gross Income received
during the year is less than S6OO,
Dr. A. C. Ross said, but a re
turn must be filed to obtain a
refund of any Federal tax with
held. This advice applies par
ticularly to students and other
persons who worked only a part
of the year.
Forms 1040 and 1040A must
be filed by everyone under 65
years of age whose gross Income
for 1966 was S6OO or more. If
the taxpayer is 65 or older, a
return is required only if total
Income amounts to $1,200 or
more.
Holders of 69,000 life insur

THE COVINGTON NEWS
to a successful future.
Our hearts are torn, due to the
sudden illness of our good friend,
Mr. Irving Dietz! He is resting
nicely at Newton County Hospital
after a rather serious heart con
dition, and his condition is re
ported a little improved. The
family has the prayers of the en
tire community in these anxious
hours.
Hearts go out in sincere sym
pathy to the family of Mr. Buddy
Baker. His going away was ex
pected for a long time, but that
makes it none the easier to give
a loved one up. We know from
personal experience, for we went
through this same agony with our
life companion. God bless each
of you.
Well, Tuesday evening January
24th will be long remembered!
We were invited to our very fa

quet! They always have invited
the “Office Boy”, even tho not
as a member. (They do not know

County) — Because why? 'Cause
I’m not a day older than they are,
and love the very last one of them
. ..and am for their every project!
These older groups ’o boys. . .
Shoot! They argue, maybe (?)
they enjoy their meetings and they
do a lot ’o good. ..but the younger
ones mostly do the work.. .Not
so with the Jaycees.. .each fel

for one! You never saw such
team work. . .that’s exactly why
I’m right with ’urn all the way.
You will see some of the finest
men in the country.. .get around
to saying, “I really got my in
spiration and start in the JAY
CEES.” You will read about
last nights meeting elsewhere...
but Frank Malcolm, their fine
President, did a wonderful job
in planning and in presiding.
National Director Lee Grogan
brought a dynamic message...
We drank in every word of it. . .
but he looked so much like one
of our sons, we loved so very
much, that we could not believe
at first it was not him, altho’
we had heard this fine Jaycee
speak before.
There were many awards, and
one of the News force accepted
the award, for they called our
name and we had to go up. We
were so excited over this beau
tiful gesture that we know we
did not thank them adequately.
The News takes great pleasure
in indexing the achievements of
this Jaycee Club. . .It is build
ing character! Building Men, real
men, of our young men. . .we
wish every town had a Jaycee
Club! Our award for News Co
verage of every activity of the
Club will have a very special
place over our desk! We will
look at it often and thank the
Heavenly Father for each man
in that Club. They are the men
who will make this community,
in the future, a better place in
which to live. Yes, we thank
God for such training, and each
of these fine men.
Whew! There comes another
broom. . .right after me! Good-

P. S. One thing for sure. . .
we appreciate this award more

received. . .and YOU know the
