Recently four men were promoted to Lead-Operator positions at Mo
bil Company in Covington. They include: Michael E. Cronan of Por
terdale, Walter J. Abbott, Jr. of Covington, Howell R. Bone of Por
terdale, and Tony Ray Hodges of Covington.
SS Tax Up
The Social Security tax rate
increased to 4.4% on the first
payrolls in January. This amount
paid by the employee is match
ed by the employer, and may cost
an individual taxpayer $290.40
this year. This rate is scheduled
to last through 1968.
According to John H. Ingle,
manager of the Atlanta Social
Security office, the higher rate

at the Atlanta Public Schools
