"Hobby Day”
Future Homemakers of Ameri
ca at the R. L. Cousins School
worked enthusiastically with the
Hobby Day Project that was held
in the Home Economics Dept,
on Feb. 8, 1967.
An estimated number of 350
or more persons attended the ex
hibit. Some of the hobbies dis
played In the area of clothing were
skirts, dresses, suits, aprons,
blouses, pot-holders and knitted
dress and a knitted sweater, a
knitted pony-tail and a knitted
dickey. There were cakes and
cupcakes in the area of food,
others Included displays of fa
vorite novels, and favorite re
cords.
The theme of this project was
Leisure Time - Constructive
Time, which is one of our Na
tional Projects. Many compli
ments were given members on
their outstanding work.
Our next two projects are the
“Sweetheart’s Ball” and the an
nual Banquet.

Take Technical
Training In Miss.
Edward Lewis
SAN ANTONIO, TEX. — Air
man Edward G. Lewis, son of
Mr. and Mrs. E. O. Lewis of 23
Poplar St., Porterdale, has been
selected for technical training
at Keesler AFB, Miss., as a
U. S. Air Force communicat
ions specialist.
The airman recently complet
ed basic training at Lackland
AFB, Tex. His new school is
part of the Air Training Com
mand which conducts hundreds of
specialized courses to provide
technically trained personnel for
the nation’s aerospace force.
Airman Lewis Is a 1966 grad
uate of Newton County High Sc
hool, Covington.

BOY SCOUTING was the theme of the Covington Kiwanis Club meeting Thursday at Davis House Res
taurant. These scouters were photographed at the conclusion of the meeting. Having a part on the

Mrs. W. A. Roberts of Route 4,
Covington, was recently promot
ed to the rank of Sergeant. He is
the Assistant Chief of Section and
Assembly Specialist in the field
of the Sergeant Missile with the
80th Arty. He has been stationed
in Darmstadt, Germany since
August 17, 1966.

Promoted To Major
In US Air Force

Robert V. Aaron, whose parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Harris, live

ton, has been promoted to major
In the U. S. Air Force.
Doctor Aaron is assigned at
the 36th Tactical Hospital, Bit
burg AB, Germany.
A graduate of Covington High
School, he attended Reinhardt
Junior College, Waleska, Ga., and
the University of Omaha (Neb.).
The captain also attended the
University of Michigan, and holds
B. A. and M. H. A. degrees.
The doctor’s wife, Betty, is
the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Jess Cooper of Rt. 5, Dalton.
