California where he has been
transferred.

Hears Rep. Ballard
The starrsvllle Community
Club met on Tuesday, February
28. The speaker for the evening
was Rep. Donald Ballard, of New
ton County, who presented a very
informative talk on the various
functions of our State Legislature
this year.
The president, Mrs. Carol Mc-
Gibboney, presided at the bus
iness meeting. She expressed
thanks to Guy McGibboney and
Glen Mutimer who contributed
their time to enclose the stage.
Goals for 1967 were discussed
and approved.
Mrs. Ernest Mann and Mrs.
S. J. Harlin were hostesses, and
a delicious meal was enjoyed by^
all present.
Tallahassee, Florida over the
weekend.

turned to the Rockdale Hospital.
Her many friends are wishing
her a complete recovery.

business failures in the United
States in 1965. The average

Mrs. Harold Hoffman Gracious Hostess
To Club And Guests At Bridge-Coffee
The Forest Drive home of the
Harold Hoffmans was the scene
on Friday, of an event lending
interest to the current social
calendar, when Mrs. Hoffman
entertained members of her club,
and club guests, at a bridge
coffee.
Colorful arrangements of daff
odils and early purple hyacinths,
in brass containers, gave cre
dence to the promise of spring,
at vantage points in the recreat
ion room, where tables were set
up for the games.
Mrs. Hoffman served broiled
grapefruit and coffee, as guests
arrived at 9;30. In the ensuing
rounds of bridge, prizes were
presented to the respective high
and low guest scorers, Mrs.
Johnny Maloney and Mrs. Bob
Budd; club high and low scorers,
Mrs. Moody Summers and Mrs.
Philip cohen; and the traveling
prize to Mrs. Donald Briscoe,
also a club guest.
Other club guests included
Mesdames Basil Rigney and Ger
ald Wendell; and other members
playing were; Mesdames Mil
ton Me Laney, Charles Burnett,
P. W. Pratt, Jr., Grady Coleman,
and John Jernigan. Mrs. Jerry
Capes and Mrs. Joe Thompson
were coffee guests, for the de
lightful occasion.
Farm Fire Losses
NEW YORK—Fire destroyed
an average of more than a half
million dollars of farm property
a day in 1965. The Insurance
Information Institute said farm
fire losses last year totaled some
SlB7 million.
