A report of milk production
levels attained by dairy cows
in area herds has been received
from Holsteln-Frieslan Assoc
iation of America. The actual
food production output, under of
ficial testing rules, by these
local Registered Holsteins is:
Meyerdell Avalanche Audrey
5641014, a three-year-old, pro
duced 17,370 lbs. of milk and
625 lbs. of butterfat in 321 days;
Perseus Hayfields Lena 6197678,
a three-year-old, had 16,820 lbs.
of milk and 585 lbs. of butterfat
in 305 days. Both are owned
by Sam B. Hay, Jr., Hayfields
Farm, Covington.
These new production figures
may be compared to the esti
mated annual output of 8,513 lbs.
of milk and 315 lbs. of butterfat
by the average U. S. dairy cow.
The University of Georgia sup
ervised the sampling, weighing
and testing operations in cooper
ation with the Holstein organiza
tion’s herd and breed improve
ment programs.
