Rockdale district will be limited
to five scouts plus one adult due
to limited accommodations. Eg
lin can accommodate 68 scouts
and adults on the trip and re
servations will be honored on a
first come-flrst serve basis.
Each unit will furnish its own
transportation and plans are to
leave Sunday morning, July 23,
from the City Square at 7:30.
The scouts will leave Eglin on
Wednesday morning, July 26, af
ter breakfast and be back in Cov
ington sometime Wednesday af
ternoon.
Scoutmasters are urged to reg
ister their scouts for this trip
before the June 23, deadline, and

Hl. On Monday, Mrs. Hart and
their children, Jackie, Michael,
Pete and Kathy plan a flight to
Jacksonville, 111., where they will
be joined later by Mr. Hart In a
visit with relatives.

Miss Broughton
Receives Degree,
Psychology Award
Elizabeth Dunn Broughton has
been awarded the bachelor of
arts degree In psychology by
Georgia State College, In Atlanta.
The degree was conferred by Dr.
Noah Langdale Jr., GSC presid
ent, during the college’s spring
exercises at the Atlanta mun
icipal auditorium the last Sun
day In May.
Mrs. Broughton Is the daughter
of Mrs. Leona P. Dunn, of Ox
ford.
Miss Broughton of Oxford, was
recently at the Georgia State
College Honors Day.
She received the Institute for
Psychological Services Award
which Is presented to a psycho
logy major for the first year of
graduate study. She also re
ceived the Dean’s Key from the
School of Arts and Sciences. The
Dean’s Key is presented to stu
dents who have made the Dean’s
List with Distinction for three
consecutive quarters.

Completes Training
FT. GORDON, (AHTNC) —
Army Private Edward Clark, 19,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Willie G.
Clark, Route 1, Mansfield, com
pleted nine weeks of advanced
Infantry training June 2 at Ft.
Gordon. His last week of train
ing was spent in guerrilla war
fare exercises.
During his guerrilla training,
he lived under simulated Viet
nam conditions for five days,
fighting off night attacks and
conducting raids on “enemy” vil
lages. He was taught methods of
removing booby traps, setting
ambushes, and avoiding enemy
ambushes.
Other specialized training in
cluded small unit tactics, map
reading, land mine warfare, com
munications, and firing the M-14
rifle, M-60 machine gun and 3.5-
Inch rocket launcher.

Grady Fincher Makes Tech Sgt.
SHREVEPORT, LA. — Grady
Fincher, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Ras W. Fincher of Rt. 1, Cov
ington, has been promoted to tec
hnical sergeant in the U. S. Air
Force.
Sergeant Fincher Is a tran
sportation supervisor at Barks
dale AFB, La. He Is a member
of the Strategic Air Command
which keeps the free world’s
mightiest missile and jet bom
ber force ready to counter the
enemy threat.
The sergeant is a graduate of
Heard-Mixon High School.
His wife, Betty, is the daughter
of Mrs. W. Adcock of 1432 Sum
mers St., Shreveport, La.
