their sonand daughter, Johnny 14,

County, Ala, She enjoys paint=-
ing, flower gardening, collecting
Indian artifacts, and fishing,
Mr, Wade, a Talladega, Ala,
native, is with Hercules Fibers
Division, He shares his wife’s
interest in fishing, which is a
mutual recreation of the entire
family; and likes hunting, and In
dian relics as hobbies also,
The Wades are Presbyterians,
and are being extended a cordial
welcome in that congregation,
and in many other phases of the
community, to which they will be
valued additions,
Mr, and Mrs. R, E, Parrott,
who have recently moved from
Atlanta, are not strangers to
Newton County, since they have
spent as much time as possible
at their cabin on Lake Jackson,
for severalyears, Upon Mr, Par=-
rott’s retirement, they decided
to make their lakeside cabin
their home,
Mrs, Parrott, a Dallas, Tex,
native, finds fishing and TV her
most relaxing hobbies, which Mr,
Parrott enjoys also, They have
seven children, all of whom are
married and have established
homes in other localities,

afternoon, June 17, at a three
o’clock candlelight double ring
service performed by the Rev.
Owen E, Kellum Jr., of Cov
ington.
Dr. William Lemonds, organ
ist, presented a program of nup
tial music including ‘‘Praise to
the Lord’”, as the processional
and ‘‘Sing Praise to God’’, as
the recessional. He accompan
ied Mrs. Owen E, Kellum Jr.,
soloist, who sang, Bach’'s ‘‘My
Heart is Ever Joyful”’ and ‘‘Only
Our Lives’’.
Serving as best man was Bill
Willis of Swainsboro, with usher
groomsmen being William R, Kit=
chens, John Richardson, Gordon
J. Jacobs and James W. Mullis.
The maid of honor, Miss Bar
bara Wukas, sister of the bride,
wore a light pink crepe with
the empire waist accented with
lace which continued down the
center of the paneled train. The
A-line skirt was attached to a
bodice featuring elbow length sl
eeves and a sweetheart neckline.
She carried ‘a nosegay of red
roses. Bridesmaids Misses Bet
ty Wukas, sister of the bride;
Kay McAllister, Charlotte Eng
lish and Margaret Kinsland wore
dresses identical to the maid of
honor. They carried nosegays
of peppermint carnations and red
roses.
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, wore a traditional
wedding gown of white organza
with the empire waist featuring
long lily point sleeves and a
sweetheart neckline. The A
line skirt was bordered in Alen~
con lace as was her organza
train., A rosette held her four
tiered chapel length veil and she
carried a lace covered prayer
book with a bouquet of gardenias
and stephanotis.
The bride’s mother chose for
the occasion a turquoise crepe
sheath with a matching colonial
full length lace coat with a cor
sage of pink roses gracing her
shoulder.
Mrs. McAllister selected for
her son’s wedding a deep pink
crepe sheath with a jeweled sw
eetheart neckline and a matching
short jacket with three-quarter

Many beautiful gifts for her fut
ure home were presented to Miss
Fullington by the forty guests
who shdred in the festivity.
Refreshments were served fr=-
om the buffet table overlaid with
white linen and beautified with
candelabra and white glads with
blue and white pompons, com
plimented by blue streamers ad
orning the arrangements. Punch,
cookies, hors d’oeuvres, party
sandwiches, pickles, nuts, and
mints were enjoyed.
Miss Fullington, who will be
married on August 5 to Jimmy
Martin, chose for the occasion
an orange sheath with which she
wore a yellow carnation corsage.

riage on Friday evening, June 9,
at the Porterdale Baptist Church
with the Rev. H. N. Earnest,
pastor of the church, officiating
at the double ring, candlelight
service,
The altar before which the
couple took their wedding vows
was centered with a basket ar
rangement of white gladiolus,
mums and fern, flanked by fern
and double candelabra holding
white tapers. Perfecting the sc
ene were white satin bows with
mum clusters marking the family
‘pews.
Miss Deborah Head, organist,
rendered a program of approp=-
riate nuptial music and accom
panied Miss Cindy Moss, soloist,
as she sang ‘‘l Love YouTruly’’,
““O Perfect Love’” and ‘‘Wedding
Prayer”.

by her brother-in-law, Franklin
McGee, wore a floor length wed=
ding gown of brocade with the
empire waist featuring long lily
point sleeves and a round neck
line. Her train was caught at
the shoulders and she worea fin
gertip mantilla. She carried a
bridal bouquet of white orchids
surrounded with yellow carnat
ion featherettes fashioned on a
white Bible, which was a gift
of the YWA’s of the church.
The bride’s mother chose for
the occasion a green shantung
with matching accessories and
she wore a white carnation cor=
sage.
Mrs. Autry, mother of the
groom, wore a navy blue fitted
dress with white accessories.
She also wore a corsage of
white carnations.
Mrs. Nancy Maddox of Con
yers, grandmother of the bride,
chose for the occasion a lilac
silk dress with white accessor=-
ies. A white carnation corsage
also graced her shoulder.

trance hall of the church at a
small table covered with white
satin and holding a single white
candle, For the occasion she
wore an aqua dress with a cor
sage of white gladiolus.
For their honeymoon to Gat=-
linburg, Tennessee the bride cha
nged to a two piece white lace
suit with white accessories and
the orchid corsage lifted from
her bridal bouquet.
Mr. and Mrs. Autry will make
their home on Madison Highway.

Os Bible History
The Estherian Sunday School
Class of the First Baptist Church
held their regular meeting at the
church on Thursday, June 15, for
the second session of the study
of the book, ‘“The History of the
Bible”.
Mrs. Frank Ridling, president,
opened the meeting by welcoming
members and guests and glv}ngan
opening prayer. After a short
business meeting the meeting
was turned over to Mrs. Leo
Mallard, teacher of the class,
who conducted a most interesting
session on the study of the book.
The meeting was dismissed with
prayer.
During the social hour delic
fous refreshments were served
by Group I of the class.
New WSCS Circle
Is Organized At
Porterdale Church
The Woman’s Society of Chr
istian Service of the Julia A,
Porter Methodist Church organ=-
ized a new circle in the society
that will meet on the third Mon
day of each month in the morn
ings at 10 o’clock.
This is a new experiment of
the church and was organized
for the benefit of the ladies who
work on the second shift and also
those who have retired,
The first meeting was held this
week at the home of Mrs. M, B.
Shaw. The following officers
were elected to serve: Chair
man, Mrs. M, B, Shaw; Co=-
Chairman, Mrs. Walter Pope;
Secretary, Mrs. Bill Bates; Tr
easurer, Mrs. Cleo Hatfield.
Mrs. Bill Bates suggested the
circle be called the Lucille Cir
cle in honor of Lucille Shaw and
Lucille Ray who have served so
many years in both the society
and the church school.
The following ladies were pre
sent: Mr. Bill Bates, Mrs. Roy
Huckaby, Mrs. Sara Sealock,
Mrs, Bertie Mae Spear, Mrs.
W. C. Ivey, Mrs. Cleo Hatfield,
Mrs, Walter Pope, Kay Shaw and
the hostess.
Cokes and cookies were served
during the social hour. The
circle will meet at the home of
Mrs. Bill Bates July 17th.

Miss Loyd, Mr. Harper Feted
At Home Os Mr. And Mrs. Laster
Miss Patsy Loyd and her fian
ce, Hugh Harper, were honored
on June 17, with an aperitif party
in Atlanta, given by Mr. and Mrs.
James W, Laster at their new
home.
The entrance hall of the home
held a mass arrangement of blue
hydrangea on the entrance hall
table, which was beautifully re
flected in the large overhanging
gold frame mirror. Guests were
greeted here by Mrs. Laster,
who chose for the occasionablue
and white embroidered shift with
matching shoes.
Miss Loyd was attractively
dressed for the occasion in a
brown and white polka dotted
voile which featured a white linen
waist trimmed with the polka
dot. With this she wore brown
and white linen shoes.
The living room held a Flem
ish arrangement in a silver con=-
tainer on the coffee table. A

She is a graduate of Newton

Harris College and is now a stu=-
dent at the University of Georgia
where she expects to complete
the requirements for a Bachelor
of Science Degree in Education
in March 1968,
Mr, Wheeler is the grandson
of Mrs, Bud Iverson Wheeler
and the late Mr, Wheeler, His
maternal grandparents are Mrs,

late Mr, Daniel,
He is a graduate of Newton
County High School and has ser=
ved two years with the United
States Army, He is now em=

Among highlights of prenuptial
events tendered in honor of Miss
Patsy Loyd, Saturday’s bride
elect, was the bridesmaids’ lu
ncheon, on Wednesday, at which
Mrs, Harry Dietz and Mrs, W,O,
Nunnally of Atlanta were co=
hostesses at the former’s Church
Street home,
Pink predominated in decora=
tive features of the attractive
setting, In the living room, a
drum table held an arrange

The dining room table was
covered with a white embroid
ered cutwork linen cloth and

dip, ham, crackers, various types
bread and other tasty dishes.
