lend sincere. We envy the art
ists among our Covington people
. . .and their students. . .we’ve
always longed to be one. Ladies
sign up in a morning class now.
But we have to use the typewri
ter, and strive to paint God’s
pictures with words. . .and ours
are not as colorful as the GREAT
ARTISTS Autumn hues. Kenneth
Rogers will get some beautiful
pictures for the Journals Mag
azine Section I just know. . .and
this Office Boy looks forward to
every picture he makes.
Our ‘‘Hats Off” to the Ameri
can Legion and it’s wonderful
members here. Thanks to them
the Newton County Fair is in
full swing and will be all week.
Go! See the various booths,
the work of 4-H'ers. . .and ot
hers. We look at their canning
handiwork, etc. . . and we even
want to go back to Hi-School. . .
just to be a 4-H’er. Y’all think
you could make an Office Boy
behave in class, and learn to
make light rolls like you do?
And boys we never could keep
up with you! Mr. Sharp might
object. . .cause I’m sure a big
boy to be in Hl-School. . .but
after all I ain’t so big fer my
age.
Newton County is proud of the
farm exhibits. . .and every booth
out there, they get better and
better each year.
It’s about time to start mak
ing your Christmas gift list. . .
for family and friends. Start
shopping right now. . .our alert
merchants will have every thing
you want in stock. . but you
know it will go, and fast, for
they give their home folks a wh
ole heap better prices than “out
-er-town merchants” give you.
They may have fine stores. . .
lots more Christmas trees and
tinsel along with glamour. . .
but you don’t want to have to
pay for that too, when you buy
from out-er-town merchants. . .
After all these folks here are
your neighbors. . .your church
members, your friends. We got
ten help each other for Atlanta
won’t help us none. . .or any
other outer-town store. Get
Ready! Get Set! Go!. . .before
they are sold out, and you go
around complainin’. . .“Theyha
ven’t got nothin’ ”. They won’t
save it when a sale comes al
ong. . .Bang! First come first
served.
The Baptist Churches started a
new year on October Ist, and per
haps all others did. You may not
be the Preacher, Teacher, Pia
nist, Choir Leader, BTU, WMU,
GA, Brotherhood or RA Leader
. . .but YOU are important!. . .
and more important. Why? They
can’t sing with out all of you
there to sing. . .Pastor can’t
preach to an empty house. . .
and you don't want him half
preachin’ to a half empty house
. . .so YOUR place In church
stands out conspicuously if you
are not there. Turn over a new
leaf In your “Reminder Book”...
and Write in Bold Letter: ‘‘Be
in your own church this year,
every time the doors are open
ed to you!” And DO IT. . .God
expects that much of you, even
if you did not volunteer to work
. . .but you will. . .you can’t help
it when you feel God tugging at
your heart. . .so. . .We are
lookin’ for you in every Church.
We won’t be in but one church
. . .But God will guide you to
your own. . .IF you and your
family will but heed His voice.
We know one fine young couple
who get their little children ready
and send them. . .but they do not
go. A little child can lead them
. . .they will! See you at Sun
day School! Your Office Boy
hard at work. . .er “SWEEPIN’
UP”.
