April 6. That is the week 600,- (
000 teenage members of this or
ganization hold National FHA
Week.
The FHA chapter in Newton
County High School will join 497
chapters throughout Georgia in
special activities and projects
designed to share their FHA ex- .
periences and achievements with ।
families, friends, and neighbors. (
The theme chosen for this
year’s observance Is “Focus on
C itizenship.’ ’ The objective is to
encourage worthwhile involve
ment as citizens in the home,
school, and community.
Future Homemakers of Am
erica provide many opportunities
to meet the needs of today’s youth.
Through individual and group ac
tivities it builds character, deve
lops poise, helps members to ad
just to social situations, encour
age community participation,
promotes friendliness and team
work, teaches leadership, res
ponsibility, and preparation fora
vocation.
This national organization of
home economics students in jun
ior or senior high schools is a
training ground for tomorrow’s
homemaker-citizen. The local,
state and national FHA associa
tions. through projects, meet
ings, and workshops help develop
individual and group Initiative in
improving personal, family, and
community living.
The Covington FHA has sch
eduled a number of activities
for the week. According to Car
olyn Head, President, the plans
include seven days of hard work
for members, officers, and the
advisor, Ellen Daniel. The week
begins with:
Sunday, Church Day. All mem
bers are urged to attend church
with their famllles-ask their pas
tor to mention FHA week in the
announcements of the church, and
to volunteer their services to
their church for that afternoon.
Monday will be Publicity Day.
