Morris Promoted Vice
President Engineer Firm
Gilmer Lanier Morris has been
promoted to Vice President of
AAA Electrical Contractors and
Engineers in Atlanta. Mr. Morris
joined his company in 1957. Since
that time he has served in various
capacities including senior engi
neer and general superintendent.
AAA Electrical Contractors
has been rated as the fourth lar
gest electrical contractor in the
Southeast.
He is a native of McDuffie
County, and a graduate of Thom
son High School. He served with
the United States Navy from 1950
to 1954. Mr. Morris attended
the U. S. Naval School in San
Diego, California, and received
honors as graduating among the
top ten of his class. He is a mem
ber of the Tucker Lodge No. 42.
Mr. Morris is married to the
former Louise Guy of Thomson,
and they have two daughters,
Jeanie and Judy. They are mem
bers of the First Baptist Church
in Covington. Mr. and Mrs. Mor
ris reside at their country home
on Kirkland Road.
LOCAL CANCER CRUSADE
WORKERS ARE NAMED
If everybody in Newton County
had the enthusiasm and zeal of

tients, Mrs. Jack Jennings, the
Education Funds Crusade would
break all-time records. This
lady works day and night en
couraging others to have check
ups, give checks for research,
and give some of themselves
to sell the good news that “Can
cer can be cured!”

Got Measles
Vaccine Here
On Sunday, March 31, the New
ton County Health Department
held a measles vaccine clinic for
children ages 1 year through the
2nd grade. The vaccine was
furnished for this clinic by the
State and Federal Government.
The Newton County Health De
partment is proud to announce
that 574 children received the
measles vaccine at this clinic.
With the organized aid of the
Newton County Jaycees andJay
cettes, the Newton County Health
Center conducted one of the larg
est measles clinics ever to be
held in the State of Georgia.
Assisting the Newton County
Health Department personnel, the
Newton County Jaycees and Jay
cettes published the clinic by
means of spot announcements on
the local radio station, The Cov
ington News and announcements
made in the local churches. Post
ers promoting the clinic were
placed by the Jaycees and Jaycet
tes at various places throughout
the county.
