Elks Entertain Grand Exalted
Ruler Boney On Atlanta Visit
The Spring District Meeting of
the Georgia Elks was held recent
ly in Atlanta at Lodge No. 78. The
main event of this meeting was
having the Grand Exalted Ruler,
Robert Boney and Mrs. Boney. A
motorcade greeted Mr. and Mrs.
Boney at the Atlanta Airport on
Saturday.

Mrs. Bill Vaughn, State Pre
sident of the Georgia Elks Aid
more Auxiliary, recently instal
led the new slate of officers at
the Griffin Elks Lodge. A So
cial hour in honorof Mrs. Vaughn
proceded the dinner. Mrs.
Vaughn was introduced by the
local president, Mrs. Phyllis
Scott and praised for the out
standing work she was doing for
Aidmore and was presented a
beautiful tray. Mrs. John Ches
nut accompanied Mrs. Vaughn.
After spending the night in
Griffin, Mrs. Vaughn left for
Tifton the next day where she
was honored with a luncheon
and following the luncheon she
installed the new officers of the
Tifton Elks Auxiliary. An im
pressive installation ceremony
was performed by using the
“Wheel” as a symbol. Mrs.
Vaughn was presented a silver
butter dish. The Tifton Auxi
liary held a party in Mrs.
Vaughn’s honor at the home of
Mrs. Barry Region that evening.
Mrs. John Chesnut accompanied
Mrs. Vaughn.

Mrs. W. K, Lunsford, Sr. re
turned Tuesday from Bainbridge
and Tallahassee, Fla., where she
had been the guest of relatives
and friends for the past two
weeks. Her sister, Mrs. T. R.
Hodges, Mrs. R. M. Reynolds
and Mrs. M. G. Driskell of Bain
bridge accompanied Mrs. Luns
ford home as her houseguests,
until Thursday.

dance was held on Saturday night.

auxiliary meeting on Sunday be
ginning at ten. Prior to the bus
iness meeting a coffee was held
in Mrs. Vaughn’s honor. Mrs.
Boney, wife of the Grand Exalted
Ruler was guest at the business
meeting. The meeting was called
to order by Mrs. Vaughn. After
a short business meeting the aux
iliary members were invited for
a joint meeting with the Elks.
This meeting was conducted by
State Elk President Tolbert Sex
ton. Mrs. Vaughn was called
on to ask for roll call of the var
ious Auxiliaries and their dona
tions to Aidmore Hospital. The
ladies donated sl7, 560.00 to the
crippled Children’s Hospital
“Aidmore”. The Georgia Elks
donated approximately $37,500.-
00 making a grand total of $55,-
060.00
President Sexton called on
Grand Exalted Ruler Boney to
make a short talk after which the
Honorable George T. Smith made
a very interesting talk. Follow
ing the joint business meeting,
Mrs. Vaughn joined a motorcade
to Aidmore Hospital for a lunch
eon. Mrs. John Chesnut accom
panied her. Others attending
from Covington included, Mr. and
Mrs. Joe McClure, Mr. and Mrs.
Howell Woodward, Mr. and Mrs.
Dan Reynolds and Mr. and Mrs.
Cowan.

Dessert-Bridge Wednesday Afternoon
Mrs. D. M. Johnson was a
gracious hostess on Wednesday,
when she entertained members
of her club at a dessert-bridge
at her home on Pinecrest Drive.
Potted green plants, a bronze
compote of dogwood blossoms,
and a piano arrangement of Flem
ish flowers in a white urn, en
hanced the attractive living room,
where tables were set up for the
games.
Upon arrival, Mrs. Johnson
served a delicious sweet course
with coffee. In the rounds of
bridge enjoyed throughout the
