To Give Concert
A t Oxford Mon.
Oxford College announces a
concert by Noel Jan Tyl, to be
held May 13, at 8:15 P.M., on
Allen Memorial Auditorium, on
the Oxford campus.
Mr. Tyl is a leading bass
with the New York City Opera
Company, and is Emory Univer
sity’s Affiliate Artist for this
academic year. The ‘‘Affiliate
Artist Program” is a unique
and very exciting concept in the
performing arts. It provides
a means by which a talented
young musician can be adequate
ly exposed to new audiences un
der the sponsorship of an ed
ucational institution. The Af
filiate Artist, however, is not
confined to the campus and the
immediately surrounding area,
as is the usual ‘‘artist-in-res
idence”, but is allowed to re
main primarily an artist. He
pursues his professional goals
and travels throughout the year
as the official cultural repre
sentative of the school. While
he is always a performer, on
or off campus, he possesses a
special commitment to the field
of education.
The public is cordially in
vited to hear the concert.
