Newton Needs Homes For Children
In Newton County, there is
an urgent need for foster homes
to provide temporary care for
children of all ages. Every
child has the right to a normal
happy home, but unfortunately
there are some families unable
to provide this for their child
dren for many different rea
sons-illness, death, martial con
flict and perhaps emotional ill
ness.
Whatever the reason, the fact
remains that there are boys and
girls in need of love and care
that a foster home can give
^em-—until their own homes are
re-established or other plans
worked out.
We already have several fam
ilies in our community doing a
wonderful service by sharing
their homes with foster children.
They are providing the love, care,
and services essential to the
growth and development of a
child.
But we need more of these
homes. We hope that you may
decide to open your home to a
child who needs you.
The following questions and an
swers will give you a clearer
understanding of foster parent
hood and will explain how you
can become a foster parent.
Q. If I have children of
my own still living at home,
can I qualify as a foster par
ent.
A. Yes.
Q. Do I, as a prospective
foster parents, have any say
in expressing a preference for
age and sex of child?
A. Yes. Foster parents
and the agency plan together
for the placement of a child.
Q. What age group is most
in need of foster homes?
A. There is a need for homes
for children of all ages, but
especially for infants and teen
agers.
Q. How long would a foster
child stay in my home?
A. The length of time varies.
I ^MOTHER X® I
It is so important that a child feel secure and loved the first weeks and months
of its life. Our foremost authorities say that if a child's spiritual and emotional
welfare is neglected in the early weeks of life, there is a great chance of per
manent damage to its personality growth.
Therefore, on this day, we honor not only the beloved mothers of our adults
and youth, but the very young mother who has both the tremendous respon
sibility and the precious opportunity to mold the life and character of the very
young child. May she seek early God's help, who in the person of the Son, said.

child the experiences of a nor
mal family life. You must

County. Both foster parents
should be in the home and be
in good physical and mental

be employed outside the home.
