program which begins at 7:30

Mrs. J. W. Hooten
Funeral services were held
Monday morning, May 13, at the
First Baptist Church for Mrs,
J. W. (Webb) Hooten of Coving=
ton, who passed away at her
home on Sunday, May 12, fol=
lowing a lingering illness, Rev.
Edgar A, Callaway, pastor of
the church, officiated at the ser=
vices.
Mrs. Hooten was a native of
Henry County, but had made her
home here for most of her life
time. She was 90 years old at
the time of her death and was
a member of the First Baptist
Church.
Interment was in Covington
Cemetery with J, C. Harwell
and Son Funeral Home in charge
of arrangements. Serving as
pallbearers were Fred Kitchens,
Jr., Nelson Allen, Hill Biggers,
Joe Wilson, Terry Evans and
Joe Thompson.
Surviving are two sons, Vera
Hooten, J., T. Hooten, three
daughters, Mrs. Fred Kitchens,
Miss Marge Hooten, Mrs. Rose
Alford, all of Covington; sister,
Mrs. T. M. Collum, Decatur;
eight grandchildren, 14 great
grandchildren and seven great
great-grandchildren.

THE NEWTON COUNTY High School Chorus, shown above, will present their concert tonight (‘tThursday)
May 16, at 8 p.m. at the Newton High Auditorium. Included in the program will be the girls trio and
boys quartet that represented the school in the Regional and State meets. Admission for the concert
will be SI.OO for adults and 50 cents for students.

New Rocky Creek Baptist
Church, Route 1, Mansfield, Rev.
C. J. Buice pastor, beginning Sun=-
day, May 19, and continuing
through Friday, May 24.
Rev. Gordon Pittard will be
bringing the messages each even=
ing, and Rev. Jerry Price will
be in charge of the music. Ser=
vices will begin each evening
at 7:30 p.m,. with a special chil=
dren’s service at 7:00 p.m.
