Mrs. Thomas Wortman, Julia
and Barry have returned home
after a two weeks visit with Mr.
and Mrs. Robert Wortman in
Newark, Ohio. On Saturday they
were all joined by Tom Wortman
in Murfreesboro, Tennessee
where they attended graduation
exercises at Middle Tennessee
State University.

Following several interesting
and appropriate contests the
bride-elect opened her beauti
fully wrapped gifts which were
piled high on a table in the spa
cious den which was covered with
a white linen cloth with green
trim.
The dining room table table
was covered with a white em
bossed cloth and centered with
a permanent arrangement of pink
and green flanked by single gold
candle sticks with burning pink
tapers. To further carry out
the color scheme of pink, green
and white, dainty cakes were
decorated in pink with the punch
bowl, at one end of the table,
holding pink tinted punch. Trays
and compotes of dainty sand
wiches, chips, dips, mints and
nuts perfected the appointments.
The hostesses were assisted in
serving by Mrs. Earnest.

Among interesting parties be
ing given for Miss Lenetta Yar
brough, whose marriage takes
place in June, was a delightful
kitchen shower given by former
college classmates Bonnie Hop
kins, Eulalia Brown, and Emily
Harrell, in beautiful ante be Hum
Bell Hall at Georgia College at
Milledgeville.
Upon arrival, Miss Yarbrough,
wearing an attractive green mo
del in Irish linen, Mrs. M. T.
Yarbrough, and Mrs. A. L. Mil
ler, Jr., wearing green summer
models, were presented corsages
of various garden vegetables in
keeping with the theme of the
kitchen shower.
Misses Hopkins, Harrell, and
Brown, wearing sheer summer
models in pastel shades, greeted
guests in the spacious entrance
hall of the dormitory and es
corted them to the lovely parlor
which was tastefully decorated
with yellow and white chrysan-

Mr. and Mrs. Paul Mayo of
Sandersville announce the en
gagement of their daughter, Susan
Ouida, to E. Trent (Skippy) Cost
ley, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. V.
Costley, Sr. of Oxford.
Miss Mayo is the granddaugh
ter of Mrs. Bonnell Stone of Ox
ford and the late Bonnell Stone.
She attended Georgia Southern
in Statesboro and graduated from
Atlanta Medical Assistants Col
lege.

Stars of Lawrence Welk Show in
Atlanta at the new Civic Center,
on Sunday, were Mesdames Re
becca McDaniel, Richard George,
Miss Beverly Perry; Miss Ethel
Merck, Miss Virginia Merck; Mr.

reminiscing and delightful games
was enjoyed by all, after which
the honoree assisted by her hos
tesses, opened and displayed her
many useful gifts.
The refreshment table covered
with a white linen cloth was

ment of seasonal flowers in col
ors in keeping with the color
scheme. Presiding over the
chrystal punch bowl which was
placed at one end of the table
were Misses Emily Harrell and
Eulalia Brown. Completing the
appointments were silver trays
of dainty sandwiches, iced animal
cookies, and compotes of mints
and toasted nuts.
Among those attending from
out of town with the honoree
were her mother, Mrs. M. T.
Yarbrough, Mrs. A. L. Miller,
Jr., and Misses Beverly Hinton
and Betsie Robinson.
Mr. Costley Is the grandson of
the late Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Cost
ley of Conyers and the late Mr.
and Mrs. E. H. Blankenship of
Covington. He attended Emory
at Oxford and DeKalb College
and Is employed by Southern
Freight Association in Atlanta.
The wedding will take place
at Allen Memorial Chapel in
Oxford on Friday, June 7, at
7:30 p. in. All friends and
relatives are cordially invited to
attend.

returning home Monday after
having spent several months in
Salt Lake City, Utah with her

of Miami, Florida arrived today
to be the overnight guests of Mr.
and Mrs. D. K. Hicks, Sr. and
the dinner guests Friday of Mr.
and Mrs. Charles Adams enroute
to Gainesville to attend the grad
uation of their granddaughter,
Linda Budd, from Gainesville
High School on June 4.

Shower Honors
Miss Parr
Miss Cheryl Parr, bride-elect,
was honored with a miscellan
eous shower on Thursday night
at the home of Mrs. Morgan
Wheeler in Atlanta. For the oc
casion Miss Parr was attractive
ly dressed in an aqua linen
sleeveless sheath with which she
wore gold accessories.
A color scheme of green and
yellow was carried out through
out the rooms thrown open for
the occasion with arrangements
of snapdragons and summer flow
ers in shades of yellow at van
tage points.
A number of Interesting and
appropriate contests and games
were enjoyed by the 15 friends
of the honoree of Atlanta being
highlighted with Bingo and word
scramble games. Those from
Covington attending were the hon
oree’s mother, Mrs. Volley Parr,
and Mrs. Ad O’Bryant.
The refreshment table was
covered with a green cloth and
overlaid with white lace. Cen
tering the dining room table was
an arrangement of snapdragons
and other summer flowers in
shades of yellow. The punch
bowl at one end of the table was
balanced by trays and compotes
of yellow congealed salad, cake
squares decorated in yellow
and green, chocolate balls, mints
and nuts.

sage, in pink.
The refreshment table, cov
ered with white damask, was cen
tered with an elongated arrange
ment of pink snapdragons, white
shasta daisies and gypsophila,
flanked by glowing white cand
les in silver candlesticks, base
garlanded with ivy. The silver
service, from which Mrs. Coop
er, wearing a grey voile with
white ruffle trim, poured coff
ee and tea; crystal trays of as
sorted party sandwiches and wed
ding motif cookies; and cutglass
bonbon dishes of toasted nuts and
mints perfected the appoint
ments. Mrs. Laseter, who wore
a lace trimmed voile in black,
with pleated skirt, and Miss
Perry, in a two piece costume
in beige linen, also assisted in
serving.
Twenty-five friends of the
bride-to-be were included in the
guest list of the evening.

quet of all the flowers signify

their responsibilities to the club.
Mrs. Pratt closed this effective
service with a prayer, and the
awards banquet for 1968 was ad
journed.
Mrs. Bernys Shaw served as
Chairman of the Banquet Com
mittee with Mrs. Ronald Reeves,
Mrs. Charles King, Jr., and Mrs.
Joe Jefferson.
The Wesleyan Service Guild
of the First Methodist Church
will meet at the church at 8
p.m. on Tuesday, June 4, with
Mrs. Edna Miller and Mrs. s. G.
Randall as hostesses.
