The Senior Highs of Allen Me
morial Methodist Church enter
tained the 1968 Graduates at a
breakfast on Sunday morning,
June 2, at the Methodist Parson
age. Dr. and Mrs. John B. Tate
greeted the young people and
welcomed them to their home
for this enjoyable occasion.
The attractive home was bea
utifully decorated for the occa
sion with arrangements of sea
sonal flowers. Individual tables
were used for seating the 24
young people attending. The
breakfast prayer was given by

tion. Graduating seniors honored

Woman's Club Meeting, Thursday
PORTERDALE—“Under Seal

theme at the Porterdale Woman’s
Club meeting in May 1968. Miss
Jan Cason and Joe Norwood were
accompanied by Mrs. Wayne
Bailey as they sang “How Great
Thou Art” and "In Times Like
These” for the program.
The hostess reported an atten
dance of forty-nine membersand
six guests. Informative and grat
ifying reports were given by the
treasurer. Members have pled
ged $99.75 to the Jaycees Youth
Center Project and other pledges
will be made, it is hoped.
The Calendar project has been
completed for this year’s trip
fund treasury.
Mrs. B. C. Crowell gave a re
port of the short trip to Atlanta
which was April 19-21. Final
plans for the Florida Trip to
begin at six o’clock on the
morning of June 7 were given by
Mrs. Henry Whitfield. Members
will take a picnic lunch for Fri
day and reservations have been
made at the Seabreeze Motel
Court.
Mrs. Frances Whitesell gave
the annual report for the Cancer
Linen Closet in the absence of
Mrs. Henry Berry, Chairman.
Mrs. E. L. Digby reported
that a total of $331.00 was contri
buted to the Cancer Drive in Por
terdale and she expressed appre
ciation for the gift from the
Porterdale W'oman’s Club.

cial Circle High School, and is

He is serving with the U. S.

Club Bibb Products Store on May
31. It will be available for em
ployees convenience three hours
on Friday afternoons and three
hours on Saturday mornings each
week.

festive occasion.
The circus theme was employ
ed in decorative features of the
party. Clusters of multi-colored
balloons at vantage points lent
additional gaiety to the patio,
where the refreshment table,
covered with a birthday cloth,
was centered with the white fros
ted birthday cake, topped with
circus animals, and three glow
ing candles. Mickey Mouse plates
and napkins, and balloon whistles
used as favors lent further inter
est to the table’s appointments.
Ice cream, cookies, frosted cup
cakes, topped with yellow florets,
and lemonade were served by the
hostesses.
A well equipped sand box, and
gym set with swings and slide
board were featured in the after
noon’s entertainment, prior to the
opening of her birthday gifts by
the honoree.
Participating in the celebration
of her birthday, with Fleeta, were

Sunday School Class of the Julia
A. Porter Memorial Methodist
Church was graciously enter
tained with a steak cookout at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Her
man Goddard on Brown Bridge
Road on Saturday evening, May
25. This was to celebrate the
conclusion of the “secret pal”
project the class has enjoyed
for the past six weeks. Instead
of useful gifts, it was decided
to give booby gifts. This indeed
proved hilarious. The outstand
ing gift was the orange sunflower
which Rev. Harold Lyda present
ed to Mrs. Frances Whitesell.
The entertainment committee
really provided an evening of
laughter. Games of dropping
the lemon in a jar, Uncle Eben
ezer died last night, and a fash
ion show by the men was thor
oughly enjoyed by all.
This evening’s fun was shared
by Rev. and Mrs. Harold Lyda,
Mr. and Mrs. Jake Hunt, Aubrey

served punch from a silver bowl
colorfully decorated at its base
with pink roses and ivy. Candel
abra with pink candles placed on
the table overlaid with a lace
cloth carried out the pink and
blue color scheme. Cake squares
topped with babies, rattlers, and
baby bottles complemented the
table.
Gifts were displayed in the
morning room with Mrs. Webb
Yancey, wearing blue summer
knit, and Mrs. R. B. Sealock
in a floral silk acting as host
ess. White gladiolus were used
for decorations in this room.
