Os all the shifting of Big League baseball teams, only two (Atlanta
and Oakland) have been in three different cities. The Oakland A’s
have been in Philadelphia, Kansas City and now on the West Coast. . .
When you mention Coach Dooley in football this fall you could be
referring to three mentors—two college and one pro. Vince is
the Georgia coach, and his brother Bill will be in his second year
at the University of N. C., and Jim Dooley is the new coach of the
Chicago Bears of the NFL . . . Coach Gilbert Turman of Cousins
High in Covington says that Burney Harris High of Athens furnished
a lot of the Grambling College football players. Grambling (in
turn) furnished more Pro players than any small college in the
nation. Newton meets Burney Harris this season on the gridiron.
Ram basketball coach Ronald Bradley has issued the NCHS
schedule for 1968-69 and it includes 22 games. The opening tilt
is set for Covington and pits the Newton teams against Pike County,
one of the better teams in West Georgia ... Former Ram head
football coach Jim Rogers was a visitor to Covington recently
and spent a fortnight with Coach Wilbur Fisher in Oxford. Rogers
is now an assistant football coach at Montgomery Bell Academy
in Nashville, Tenn.

AARON NEARING MILESTONES
Henry Aaron, the Atlanta
Braves premier right fielder, is
creeping up on two Hall of Famers
in all-time Runs Batted In and
Runs Scored.
Through games of June 2,
Aaron had 1570 runs batted in
after 14 years with the Braves.
Nine more would tie him with
Rogers Hornsby, elected to the
Hall of Fame in 1942, for tenth
place on the all-time Most RBI
list. Hornsby had 1579 in his
22 big league seasons.
Aaron also had 1539 runs scor
ed through June 2nd. He needed
just six to tie Max Carey, elect
ed to the Hall of Fame in 1961,
for tenth place in Runs Scored
in the National League. Carey
scored 1545 runs for Pittsburgh
and Brooklyn, 1910-1933.
