Balloons To "Pollute Ga. Air In Wind Survey
The air of Georgia will be pol
luted deliberately at 10 a.m. on
Tuesday, October 22 by health
department officials.
But Georgians can “breathe
easier,” for the “pollution” will
be some 500 yellow helium-filled
ballons released simultaneously
into the atmospher from 10 cit
ies across the state in a health
department project to check wind
currents and their affect on air
pollution.
Return postage-paid postcards
will be attached to each balloon.
As these balloons are found, the
finder is asked to fill in data on
the card as to where and when
the balloon was found and to drop
it into the mail. The cards,
pre-addressed to the State Health

RA Training Sessions
Slated In Eight Towns
One - day Royal Ambassador
leadership conferences are be
ing conducted for eight Georgia
towns. The first sessions for
Smyrna, Clarksville, Moultrie
and Soperton were held Satur
day, October 12.
Saturday, October 19, the se
cond session for Dalton, Talbot
tom, Baxley and Madison will be
conducted. The day - long ses
sions will convene at the First
Baptist Churches in these towns,
with Newton County RA leaders
attending the meeting at Madi
son this Saturday from 9:30 a.m.
until 3:30 p. m., with a lunch
break at noon. James F. Gray,
RA secretary, Georgia Baptist
Convention Brotherhood depart
ment, is co-ordinator for the
meetings.
RA leaders from the Porter
dale Baptist Church will partici
pate in the session to be held at
Madison. Associational RA lea
ders, youth workers, pastors and
RA workers will also be con
ference leaders.
This weekly activities program
for boys ages 9-17, was begun
in 1907. In RA work the boys
combine missionary education
with camping and recreation gi
ving them not only a fuller and
more educational background for
church work and mission work but
also teaches them the fun of out
door activities In a Christian at
mosphere.
