Legion And Auxiliary Held Joint Veterans Day Program
The American Legion Post No,
32 and Auxiliary Unit held a joint
dinner meeting on Monday night,
November 11th, 7:30 in the Legion
Home.
Members and guests were
greeted by President Mrs, Stone
Cooper and Commander Charles
C. Smiulo
Mr. T. W, Binford offered
prayer.
Dinner was served to members
and guests. The Legion Home was
beautifully decorated in Autumn
colors in the dining hall and red,
white and blue upstairs inthe le
gion Home. Mrs. Larry Greer,
chairman of the Decorating Com
mittee. Refreshment committee
was Mrs. Nat Morgan, Chairman,
Mrs. Lewis White and Mrs,
Emory S. Bowen, Jr. The Juniors
served the dinner.
The joint meeting was in ob
servance of Veterans Day, ince=
lebration of 50 years since the
Armistice was signed in Novem=
ber 1918 and in celebration of the
Auxiliary’s Birthday.

and introductions of guests., An
nouncements were made con
cerning Poppy Day and Poppy
Poster winners.
After the dinner, an enjoyable
music program was given by
Mrs, Nat Morgan, Warren Mor
gan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Nat
Morgan and Mrs. Jack Chapman,
Warren played several numbers
on the trumpet.
Commander Smith presented
Mrs, Lula Vaughn who introduced
Mr. Roy Faulkner, chief carver
of the Stone Mountain Carving.
Mr, Faulkner made several re
marks about the carving and
showed a film of the Stone Moun=-
tain Carving which was tho
roughly enjoyed by all. A ques
tion and answer period was held
about the carving.
The meeting was adjourned

14 Drunk Cases
Called In Court
City of Covington Judge E, W,
Strozier called a total of 14 cases
involving charges against per=-
sons on drunkenness at the week=
ly session of City Court Monday
morning. Most of the persons
charged and found guilty drew
fines of $15.00. Some did not
appear and therefore forfeited
their cash bond.

Speak At Oxford
Church Program
Dr. Dallas Tarkenton of Ox
ford College will discuss ¢“Viet=
nam’ atthe Allen Memorial Chu
rch in Oxford on November 17 at
7:30 p. m. The devotion will be
given by Mrs, John Tate.
This program is the third in
the series presented by the Com=
mission on Missions.
Mrs. Adel Pannell is the chair
man of the study and will preside
at the session,

ged with driving under the influ=
ence of intoxicants (DUI). Bond
forfeitures were ordered by the
Judge on most of these counts,
Other traffic violations during
the past week included: four for
speeding, two for having impro
per mnotor vehicle inspection
stickers, and two for driving
without a license. One mandrew
a fine for running a red light,
and another was fined for having
a loud muffler on his car.

Grand Ole Opry Show To
Be Held In Athens, Nov. 15
The Luncheon Optimist Club
of Athens, Ga., is staging their
first Annual Country Music Fes=
tival Nov. 15, 1968 at 8 PM at
the University of Georgia Coli
seum, Grand Ole Opry stars
appearing will be Bill Anderson
and the Po’ Boys, Loretta Lynn,
Don Bowman, Jay Lee Webb and
Doyle Wilburn, along with the
Nashville Tennesseans. The pro=-
ceeds of the show will go into
the Luncheon Optimist Club’s
Boys Work Fund.
Advance prices for tickets are
$1,75 for adults and 75¢ for child
ren under 12, At the door on
the night of the show, tickets will
be $2.25 for adults and $1.25 for
children under 12, The Luncheon
