52 Blood Donors Cited
In Porterdale RC Drive
Fifty-two people are commended
for their participation as donors
at the Red Cross Bloodmobile
Visit at the Anderson Building in
Porterdale on November 25. Al
though a quota of 90 pints had been
set, forty-nine donors were accep
ted with only three rejections.
Despite the small number who
responded to the call for life
giving blood, donations were made
for four friends or relatives whose
lives have depended on this vital
ingredient. Perhaps donors are
not aware that they can contri
bute donations and remain cover
ed for themselves and families
at the same time.

sic, Inc.), one of the country’s
major music licensing organiz
ations. More than 17,000 writers
and 8,000 publishers are curr
ently affiliated with BMI. Their
works include much of the most
successful contemporary popular
music, music of the concert hall,
as well as such other American
expressions as jazz, folk,
country, rock, rhythm and blues,
gospel and the experimental
music of the avant-garde.
The BMI repertoire includes
the most important and most per
formed works of many of the
major figures of the 20th century,
including that of 10 Pulitzer Prize
winners. The new contract will
make available music by such
distinguished concert composers
as Cowell, De Falla, Harris, He
nze, Hindemith, Hovhaness, Ives,
Krenek, Martin, Martinu, Mil
haud, Orff, Piston, Puccini, Res
pighi, Riegger, Schuller, Se
ssions, Stravinsky, Surinach, Tu
rina and Villa-Lobos. BMI also
licenses the music of over 125
composers who are members of
the American Composers All
iance.

of Bach, Beethoven, Dvorak, Lis
