This sounds very childlike,

her to enjoy since we were a
guest of the club by invitation
of her Rotarian Husband. When
it started to lose its blossoms
we brought it home to plant in

green we just put it on the
porch and watered and cared for
it. Rotarians! It has one lovely
new blossom on it now to re

presenting this to us.

Your OFFICE BOY.
A cheerful heart is a good
medicine.— (Prov. 17:22).
Happiness is symbolic of
a living awareness of God.
Trust all your affairs to God,
relax, be a happy person free
from anxiety. Happiness
leads to health. It releases
the negative thoughts that
hinder our bodily functions.
To be happy is to be one with
the rhythm and harmony of
life. Approach the living
presence of God within you
with joy and happiness, and
your greatest expectations
will come to pass.
THURSDAY 6 to 9 P.M. ONLY
Since the turn of the century, Pryor St. in Atlanta has been known to
merchants as the wholesale market place for retailers. Merchants through
out the Southeast converged on this area to buy their stock of goods for
Christmas or any other season, and only in the past five years has Pryor
St. changed from the old wholesale merchandise center to an urban renewal
area. The old look is virtually “Gone with The Wind.”
At the corner of Pryor St. and Trinity Ave. the non-denominational Tri
nity Church was built in the year 1905. This church served this area for
over 60 years having been torn down only a few weeks ago to make room
for a modern parking lot.
Even during the early part of the century when Pryor St. was beginning
to be the hub of the merchantile south, Alford’s stores (from which Hutchins
stores originated) had been known throughout N. Ga. for years as the place
to trade for values, having been established in 1876 by J. A. Alford. During
the 1920’s and 30’s our father (W. B. Alford) maintained a wholesale ware
house in this area from which he supplied his retail stores in North Georgia.
As a momento to the bygone era when Pryor St. was the bustling whole
sale market from which Alfords stores and Hutchins was born, we have
purchased the antique chandelier that hung for 63 years in the sanctuary
of the old Trinity Church.
After much cleaning, restoring and polishing we are proud to show off
our great chandelier now hanging from the high ceiling of our Shoe Dept.
We invite everyone to come by and help us celebrate the lighting of this
great chandelier.
lit? wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

It’s An Established Fact!
When a Church member rests, he rusts... .
A sound argument must have more than sound in it. ..
Don’t consult your bank book to ascertain your real wealth.
. . .Getting even with a person means putting yourself on his
level. . .
If one wants to be a knocker, he needs neither brains nor educa

Time spent in pitying oneself is the worst k-nd of idleness. ..
The pleasantest thing in the world is a thought, and the greatest
art of life is to have as many of them as possible.

Simple Deserts Please The Gang
A busy homemaker with com
pany coming in after dinner
often lacks time to prepare an
awe-inspiring creation tor cof
fee and desert. But simple des
erts, deliciously good and at
tractively served are just as
mucn of a crowd pleaser. A
fragrant coffee cake, fluffy pie
or tangy cookies all homebaked
along with plenty of good hot
coffee, is a heartwarming way
to say "glad to see you.”
Make the baked goods be
fore hand and most of your
work is done, especially if you
use non-stick aluminum pans
which heat so evenly a begin
ner can bake with confidence.
The new non-stick linings allow
your goodies to slip right onto
a plate and need only a swish
of a sponge to come clean, in
fact, a wonderful pie or cake
fitted back into the aluminum
pan in which it was baked and
gift-wrapped along with the
recipe makes a charming mo
mento for a lucky guest.
Serve up your mouth-water
ing array on a sideboard or
buffet, along with coffee kept
piping hot in a handsome elec

with an easy-pour spigot. Then
sit back and enjoy your com
