“Prophecy became a miracul
ous fact on a midnight clear al
most 2000 years ago when a
child was born in the City of
David. The word became flesh
and dwelt among us. With un
fathomed, incalculable love di
vine, God sent His most pre
cious possession into an unwor
thy world to be sacrificed so that
mankind could be pardoned for
all time.
“Because this first Christmas
brought the greatest gift of all,
it stands apart as an event su
perceding the mandane and nat
ural—aptly but inadequately de
scribed as a wondrous, unspea
kably wonderful night—“ Night of
Miracles”.
Thus, this Cantata describes
musically this night.
