Porterdale Woman’s Club
Enjoyed Monday’s Program
PORTERDALE-~-Mrs. Reuben
Rutledge opened the Porterdale
Woman'’s Club meeting with pra=
yer on Monday evening, January
20, in the Porter Memorial Gym=
nasium, after which Mrs., Wen=-
dell Tarkenton led the group in
singing ‘¢Old Hundredth’.
Mrs., C. B. Maloy presented
Miss Arlene White, who gave an
impressive devotional using th=
oughts and prayer petitions for
the New Year. Each person unit=
ed in praying ‘“Make Me An In
strument of Thy Peace’’, the fa
mous prayer of St. Francis of
Assissi.
The Melodiaires, composed of
Mrs. Gussie Lou Payne, Mrs.
Betty Campbell, and Mrs. Ann
Peppers, accompanied by Lanier
Smallwood, pianist, rendered
gospel selections with enthu=

Mrs. Diane S, Short was voted
into club membership.
Mrs. B. C. Crowell presented
plans for the annual Calendar
project. Cash gifts of ten and
five dollars will be awarded for
the persons selling most names
in this project. All calendar in
formation with money is tobe tu=-
rned in to the chairmen of six
sub=-committees by March 1.
Copies of by-laws adopted ear=
lier in the club year were distri
buted by the president.
Mrs. Whitfield challenged
members to find a cubmaster
and three den mothers for the
Pack #6O, which the club spon
sors.
A display of products on sale
in the Porterdale Woman’s Club
Bibb Products Store had been
arranged as part of the even
ing’s decorations. Price lists
were available for members.
Committees for the February
meeting were named by the pre

with whip, cheese biscuits, and
coffee were served by the com
mittee chairmaned by Mrs.
Claire Bennett.
Members were given the op
portunity of suggesting probable
sites for the summer annual trip.

Perfecting the appointments were
silver compotes of mints and nuts
and napkins imprinted with the
names and date of the honorees,
Presiding at this table were Mrs.
Phyllis Russell, sister of the
bride, and Miss Cheryl George.
The bride’s niece and nephew,
Lisa and Jimmy Russell, distri
buted miniature rice bags from
silver trays and small baskets to
the guests,
For their wedding trip Mrs.,
Morgan changed toanorchid wool
suit with matching full length coat
and accessories, The orchid cor
sage from her wedding bouquet
perfected her outfit,
At present Mr, and Mrs, Mor=-
gan will make their home in Coch=
ran where they arebothattending

Bridge Club At Wednesday Luncheon
The Pinecrest Drive home of
the Olin Costleys was the scene
on Wednesday of a gathering of
social interest, when Mrs. Cost
ley entertained members of her
club at a bridge-luncheon.
Focal point of the foyer was
an all green lavabo arrangement
of magnolia foliage. In the living
room, a colorful fruit arrange=-
ment in a brass container on the
coffee table enhanced the attr
active setting. The dining table
from which the delicious lunch
eon was served buffet, was over=
laid with a cutwork Madeira cl
oth, and centered with a crystal
Mrs. Crenshaw Bridge-Luncheon
Hostess To Club On Thursday
Mrs. Thomas Crenshaw was a
gracious hostess on Thursday,
when she entertained members
of her club at a bridge=-luncheon,
at the Crenshaws’ Salem Road
home.

table, from which the buffet lu=
ncheon was served, featured a
centerpiece of colorful fruit in
Wedding Rehearsal Supper Held
Thursday At Porterdale Hotel
Mr, and Mrs, A, R. Hooten
entertained on Thursday night,
January 16, with a rehearsal
supper at the Porterdale Hotel
in honor of their son, Dennis
Hooten, and his fiancee, Miss
Judy McDonald, prior to their
wedding on Friday evening.
On arrival Miss McDonald was
presented a pale green orchid
corsage to compliment her peach
bonded wool dress, with which
she wore brown accessories.
A color scheme of yellow and
