the Capitol.
President Richard Milhous
Nixon, the 37th President of
the United States, was born
at Yorba Linda, Calif.,, on
Jan, 9, 1913.
He graduated from Whit
tier (Calif.) College in 1934
and Duke University law
‘school, Durham, N.C., in
1937. Mr. Nixon practiced
law in Whittier for five
years and, after serving as
attorney in the Office of
Emergency Management in
Washington, D.C.,, January
through August 1942, was
commissioned a lieutenant
junior grade, in the U.S.
Navy.
Following his release from
active duty in 1946 as a
lieutenant commander, he
was elected as a Republican
representative from Cali
fornia to the 80th Congress
and re-elected two years
later.
In 1950, Mr. Nixon became
U.S. senator from California
and in 1952 was elected vice
president of the TUnited
States.

is Weston Brown, who is also
teaching a similar course in
our Vocational High School Pro
gram,
Mr. Brown is a graduate of
Basic and Advanced Bricklaying
at the Albany Area Technical
School, Albany, Georgia and has
approximately eight years ex
perience as a Journeyman Brick
layer. He has attended the Uni
versity of Georgia and is pre=-
sently enrolled in Teacher Edu
cation Courses conducted by the
Trade and Industrial Education
Department of the University of
Georgia,
Bricklaying is a four year
course, designed to prepare the
student for employment at entry

and five continents as a per
sonal emissary of President
Ilisenhower.
On three separate occa
sions, while President Eisen
hower was stricken with ma
jor illnesses, Mr. Nixon was
called upon to carry on the
country’s affairs until the
President’s recovery.
After 1960 Mr. Nixon re
turned to a law practice and
other activities which again
trok him abroad for five sep
arate trips plus a globe
circling tour of Western Eu
rope and the Near and Far

Michael Franklin Digby has
been named to the Dean’s List
at the University of Georgia for
the Fall Quarter, according to
an announcement by H, Boyd
McWhorter, Dean of the Col
lege at Athens.
Digby is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Glenn L, Digby of Route
4, Covington.

various types of bonds.
The trainee is encouraged to
progress at a rate commensur
ate withhis capabilities;advan=-
cement is dependent on the in=-
dividual’s performance and esta=
blished standards for each unit
of the course,

a large indoor area which pro=-
vides ample space for practi
cal work and a related theory
classroom,
