forfeited their bonds rather than
appear for trial.
An unusually large number of
persons were charged with driv
ing under the Influence of intoxi
cants (DUI), 12. Nine were booked
for reckless driving and five oth
ers were ticketed for driving
without a license (DWOL). Four
speeders were also caught during
the week, and two for running a
red light.
One man had multiple charges
against him that included: drag
racing, failure to stop for Geor
gia State Patrol, and speeding.
He forfeited his $200.00 cash
bond.

Cotton Boom
Seen In Shirt
Manufacture
Macon (Special)— Have you
tried to buy an all-cotton shirt
only to be offered a man-made
fiber substitute or one made of
cotton adulterated with a syn
thetic?
Frustrating, isn’t it? But, ac
cording to Georgia trustees of
Cotton Producers Institute, re
lief is on the way. The word
comes from William L. Lanier,
Macon, who, along with P. R.
Smith, Winder, represents Geor
gia on the CPI board.
“One of the top three shirt
Manufacturers (Manhattan) is
making cotton the No. 1 object
of a national sales effort,’’ Mr.
Lanier explains.
“This Is a result of a push
by the Cotton Producers Insti
tute and the National Cotton Coun
cil and is aimed at increasing
availability and sales of 100 per
cent cotton durable press and
pure-flnlsh shirts.’’
The manufacturer earlier had
decided to discontinue Its all
cotton durable press shirt. Now,
it not only is going to keep
this shirt but also Is going to:
(1) add two new lines of pure
finlsh cotton shirts, and (2) unite
its promotional and sales resour
ces with those of the cotton in
dustry in a national selling cam
paign.
