his prime hobbies, The Sauls
are Baptists, but are attending

Mr, and Mrs, Larry Whitehurst

Mrs, Whitehurst, a native of
Columbus, finds ceramics, bow=

he names fishing, hunting and
spectator sports as favorite ho

Force Base, Arizona, with their

11 and Jimmy 3 1/2; and are at

rangers in our midst, for Sgt.
Stokes is a Covington native,
the son of Mrs. W, D, Stokes and
the late Mr, Stokes,
Mrs, Stokes was born in Tul
sa, Okla, She names cooking
her most interesting labor of
love in homemaking; and also
enjoys ceramics, reading and
camping, a family hobby, as pas
times, Sgt. Stokes, in addition
to camping, likes to roam the
woodland with a good bird dog,
and sit on a lake bank with a
rod and reel, in quest of the
one that didn’t get away, He
departed Monday for Vietnam,
where he will serve with the
U. S, Air Force,

Mrs. E. G. Lassiter, Sr. was
the central figure Sunday after
noon when her family and friends
honored her on the occasion of
her 80th birthday, Mrs, Hugh
Steele and Mrs. Johnny Prescott
were hostesses for the open
house, which was held at the
Steele residence on Ellen Court.
Mrs. Steele and Mrs. Prescott
greeted the guests in the foyer
where a large split-leaf
philodendron added beauty and
greenery.
Mrs. Lassiter, dressed in a
blue textured polyester, received
her guests in the living room
which featured magnolia
branches in a tall china urn on
a low table near the door and
similar twin arrangements on
the piano.
Refreshments were served in
the dining room where Mrs. Ron=
nie Sims presided at the punch

Methodist Church, where she is
a member. A gold foil 80"
nestled in greenery and golden
candles completed the tables

featured a large arrangement
of white fujji mums.
A basket arrangement of yellow
and white mums in the breakfast
area and yellow mums in the
family room lent floral interest
in the other rooms where guests
assembled.
Peggy Steele and Debbie
Prescott presided at the guest
registry where some fifty friends
of the honoree registered after
helping to make this a memorable
and happy occasion for Mrs, Las
siter.

The First Baptist Church in
Lawrenceville formed the app

ring wedding ceremony uniting
Miss Linda Lee Davis, the dau=-
ghter of Mr. and Mrs,. Garland
Davis of Lawrenceville, and Ch=
arles Hamilton Berry 111, the son
of Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Berry,
Jre of Covington. Officiating at
the sacred service was the pas=
tor of the church, Rev. William
C. Corley.
The church was beautifully de=
corated with emerald fernarrane
gements with 75 cathedral cand=
les in candelabra and candle
trees. Centering the altar was a
sunburst arrangement of white
gladiolus and chrysanthemums.
An arch over the isles at the
front of the altar was fashioned
of hanging white wisteriaandfern
with single white tapers at the
bases joining the pews. A me
mory candle on the altar table
was lit by the couple during the
service.
Appropriate wedding selec=-
tions were rendered prior to and
during the service by Mrs, Glenn
Cooper and she accompanied Bre

Her satin chapel train was ate
tached to the end of the bodice
with a satin bow and was ador

Her shoulder length veil was
held by a satin bow outlined with
pearls and as her only jewelry
she wore a gold lavaliere ace
cented with a diamond and pearl
which had belonged to the gr
oom’s grandmother and was a
gift to her from the groom’s
mother. The bride carried a
white~Bible presented to her by
her Y.W.A, friends topped with
a bridal bouquet of white mini=
ature carnations, stephanotis and
centered with a white orchid with
long satin streamers tied with
stephanotis.
For her daughter’s wedding
Mrs. Davis chose a street len
gth dress of mint green shantung
with a lace bodice and matching
accessories. Awhite orchid cor
sage graced her shoulder.
Mrs. Berry selected for her
son’s wedding a street length
pink shantung with lace trim.
With this she wore matching
accessories and a corsage of
white orchids.
Following the ceremony the
bride’s parents entertained with
a reception in the Fellowship
Hall of the church, The bride’s
book was kept by Mrs. Harry
Britt of Lawrenceville at a mar=-
ble topped table decorated with a
silver candle holder with a sm=
all arrangement of bronze mums
and yellow bow at the base and

nations and ribbon bows. The
bride’s bouquet was used to fur
ther perfect this table’s appoint=
ments.
The refreshment table, co
vered similar to the bride’s tab=-
le, was centered vwith a silver
punch bowl on a silver tray and
flanked by silver candelabra of
white candles and yellow car
nation arrangements, Yellow
punch, open faced sandwiches,
mints and nuts with imprinted
napkins perfected the appoint
ments here. Presiding at the

nama City, Florida Mrs. Berry

skin accessories and the orchid
lifted from her wedding bouquet.

The Flint Hill Home Economics
Club held their regular meeting
November lith at 1:30 p.m, The
meeting was called to order by

program, The program was a
slide presentation of “What is
a Jaycette,”” helping to explain
to the new members what a Jay
cette is and some of her duties,

Waldrop, Region 18 Director also
from Forsyth, with her.
