Lee Botsford
Mr. Kevin Thomas (Lee) Botsford, age 56, of
Zebulon, passed away December 15, 2020. Lee was
unique and one of a kind. In his early years, he was a
top-notched wallpaper
hanger who was known
for his excellent work.
He hung wallpaper in
many public places and
for a number of famous
people, including Burt
Reynolds and Lonnie
Anderson, and in the

the paper, making sure
the patterns lined up and no seams were showing.
He made many friends and long term relationships
because of his work.
In recent years Lee was a Ramp Agent for Delta
Airlines, a job he thoroughly enjoyed and was quite
proud of. He was a true animal lover and rescuer,
who had 10 cats and a parrot. Over the years he
had rescued a number of cats, dogs, birds, rodents
(chinchillas, ferrets, pet rats, and mice, etc.), and
reptiles. He often volunteered at Noah’s Ark in Locust
Grove, feeding and caring for the animals there. He
also helped with local organizations like Bubba and
Friends, Inc, birds of prey rehabilitation, and Coco’s
Cupboard.
He was a rock n’ roll enthusiast known to attend
many concerts in his life with friends and family over
the years. His favorite bands were KISS, Poison, Alice
Cooper, and Def Leppard. He was also a big fan of
Weird A1 Yankovic.
Lee was preceded in death by his maternal grand
parents, Thomas and Beverly New, his paternal
grandparents, E. L. and Dorothy Mitcham, his uncle

Mary Frances Rappold (nee Pilkenton), born July 4,
1926 to Mamie Mae Boyd Pilkenton and John Robert
Pilkenton, passed into the peace of God at Sunrise
Care Facility
on December
28, 2020.
She was
preceded in
death by her
siblings, Peg
gy, Monroe,
and James
Pilkenton;
her husband,
Edward Rap
pold; niece,
Jennifer
Pendley; and grandson, David Kaplan. She is survived
by one sister, Patricia Pendley; two sisters-in-law,
Carolyn Pilkenton and Mary Pilkenton, of Molena,
Georgia; four children, Mary (Mike) Kaplan, Sara
(Fred) Angeletti, Sam (Sheila) Rappold, Charles (Erin)
Rappold; grandchildren, Alan (Kathy) and Brian Nor
man, Marylynn (Brian) Montano, Michelle Rappold,
Charles (Kathy) Kaplan and Allison (Jeff) Fink, Erica
and Bryan Lewis; along with great-grandchildren,
Katherine Elizabeth Montano, Brianna Lynn Montano,
Samantha Caroline Montano, Annelise Francesca Nor
man, Abigail Whitney Kaplan, Egan Franklin Kaplan;
and a great-granddaughter to be born in April.
Mary Frances graduated from Southern Business
College with a degree in accounting. She then worked
at the United States Employment Service and Liberty
Mutual Insurance Company, prior to the birth of her
children. Mary Frances was an anchor for her family.
The second oldest child and eldest daughter, she was
always an example of leadership as well as a constant
provider of peace and support.
Despite moving from rural Georgia to the city,
Mary Frances remained true to her agrarian roots
and kept a garden wherever she lived. She loved to
watch backyard birds visit her many feeders. When
others were angry or scared or upset, she was calm.
She also had a steady, determined demeanor. One
time, driving the family 1986 Ford Crown Victoria
with grandson David in the front seat, Mary Frances
turned the wheel all the way to the left to make a
turn. Unfortunately, this caused the car to stall out in
the middle of a busy intersection (probably a street
called Peachtree), slowly drifting into oncoming traf
fic toward a ditch. While David hyperventilated, Mary
Frances, completely unfazed, calmly put the car into
park, turned the ignition, put it back into gear, and
got back on track with her left turn. She never let that
leaky, groaning car stop her from getting to where she
needed to go.
When others refused, she provided. She was a
notorious collector of stray cats, whom she regularly
fed at her back door despite several family members’
severe cat allergies. She caught them and had them
neutered so they ultimately stopped creating new
feral cats to feed—a gift to the small woodland crea
tures of Atlanta.
She was always there when needed. She had spare
rooms at her house for those in our family who have
always leaned upon her for her unfailing generosity.
When walking into her house, the first words you’d
ever hear were always, “Have you eaten?” quickly
followed by, “Can 1 get you something to drink?” Her
freezer was always stocked with the right kind of ice
cream; her pantry, with cookies and candy. She was
always ready for company and really knew how to
feed those grandkids.
She was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church
in Molena, GA during her youth, and White Oak
Baptist Church in Lilburn, Georgia in her later years.
She was a very active member of the water aerobics
and chair exercise classes, at the YMCA in Lilburn. All
who knew her marveled at her joy for life and always
commented on her ready smile.
The service to celebrate the life of Mary Frances
Rappold was held on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at
12 noon at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Molena, GA.

Jesus Is The Light
“Then Jesus spoke to them again, saving, ”1 am the
light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in
darkness, but have the light of life.’”’ John 8:12
Light is the purest thing in the whole world. Nothing can corrupt or
defile light. Light can fall on the most corruptible, vile, disease-ridden
object and the light is not changed by it. The light will expose the wrong,
but the light will not be contaminated by it. Even water from the purest
spring becomes contaminated as it begins to flow away. But, not light.
Light always remains pure.
Light is a wonderful picture of the Lord Jesus Christ. He was in this
world, and He was the Light of the world. He exposed sin, but was nev
er contaminated by it. Jesus could touch sinners, but sin never touched
Jesus. In Jesus was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light
shines in the darkness and the darkness could not comprehend it. That
was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world.
Jesus is the pure light who gives life to everyone who accepts His gift of
salvation.
