QBITUARIE.
Lannie Milner Jimmy Hopkins
Mr. Lannie Milner was born on July 8, 1955 to the
late Mr. Henry Caleb Milner and the late Mrs. Lille
Bell Milner in Concord, Georgia. He received his
r i • formal education in the Pike
County School System in Ze-
bulon, Georgia. He furthered
his education at David Lip
scomb University in Nashville,
Tennessee, where he majored
in Physical Education and
Theology.
Lannie accepted Christ as
his Savior at an early age. He
was united with Camp Creek
Church of Christ, where he
was a Bible School Teacher
and Worship Coordinator.
Lannie was a faithful member
until his passing. After high school Lannie enlisted
into the United State Marines in August 1973 and was
honorably discharged on August 13, 1975.
Lannie was employed by the Pike County Board of
Education as a Physical Education Teacher for twen
ty-five years, retiring in 2008. Lannie was member of
LBAC (Lipscomb Black Alumni Council). In his leisure
time he enjoyed working on washing machines and
other household appliances, taking road trips and the
thing close to his heart was spending time with his
family and friends.
Some people walk this earth for a short time, their
departure reminds us that angels are watching over
us. On Tuesday, December 9, 2020, Mr. Lannie Milner
was granted his wings and rejoined his Heavenly
family. He entered Heaven knowing there would be
no more pain or suffering, only everlasting joy with
his Savior Jesus Christ. He was preceded in death by
his parents, Mr. Henry C. Milner and Mrs. Lillie Bell
Milner; brothers, Bobby Milner and Henry Milner, Jr.,
and his sister, Charlene Beckham.
Those left to cherish his loving memories are
his child, Keeya Milner; siblings, Lillie Mae Biles
of Fayetteville, Harold Milner of Forest Park, Billie
(Mary) Milner of East Point, Lila A. (Charles) King of
Stockbridge, Bernice Onyeji of Rex, Cary Milner of
Concord, Denise Hollis of Atlanta, Timmy Milner of
Decatur and Isaac “Al” Milner of Riverdale; two grand
daughters, Khania and Haadiya, and a very special
aunt, Rose Greene of Columbus. He also leaves a host
of nieces, nephews, cousin and friends that will miss
him dearly.
Visitation for Mr. Milner was held on Wednes
day, December 16, 2020 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Burden’s
Funeral Home. A Graveside Celebration was held on
Thursday, December 17, 2020 at 1 p.m. at Moody’s Me
morial Gardens. Pastor Tony Phillips was the Officiat
ing Pastor and Pastor Dennis Gamble was the Eulogist.
Mr. James Edward Hopkins, Sr., age 74, of Zebu-
Ion, entered his heavenly workshop on January 9,
2021. He was born in Portsmouth, VA, son of the
late John Hubert Hopkins,
Sr. and Floyce Elaine Fowler
Hopkins. Jimmy worked for
Delta Air Lines for 29 years
before retiring as a Senior
Mechanic from Dept. 589. He
was a Mason and Past Master
of Montgomery Lodge #31
in Zebulon and the Yaarb
Temple in Atlanta, a member
of the Early Ford V8 Club,
and a charter member of The
Gathering in Thomaston. The
first meeting of the group that
became The Gathering was
at Judy’s and Jimmy’s home. He enjoyed watching
westerns, listening to classic country music, work
ing, tinkering, fixing things, being a good neighbor
and loving his family. Jimmy was hardheaded and
yet softhearted, and if you knew him, you knew
which way it went. He was naturally mechanically
brilliant, not something that he learned from a book.
He was a people person and always had a joke or
a story. He had many nicknames: in high school he
was “Doc,” at Delta he was “Gorilla,” his family called
him James, but to most of us he was Jimmy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by his daughter, Bronwynn Nicole Weaver.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 35
years: Judy Hopkins; sons: Jimmy Hopkins Jr. (Mar
lene) of Woodstock, GA and Todd Hopkins (Beth)
of Bradenton, FL; grandchildren: Abby McCollum
(Matthew), Natalie Smith (Austin), Joshua Hopkins
(Laura), Jacob Hopkins, Alex Beary (Ricky), Alana
Kohn (fiance Jared Rashkin), Taylor Ann and C.J.;
great-grandchildren: Maxwell James Smith, Maggie
Kay Smith and Owen Beary; brother: John H. Hop
kins, Jr. (Perry) of Monroe, GA; sister: Joyce Lorton
(Danny) of Fayetteville, GA; several nieces and
nephews.
A public celebration will be held at The Gather
ing, 456 Hannahs Mill Road, Thomaston, when all of
Jimmy’s friends and family can gather safely. Pastor
Charles Bennett will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to
Patriot Paws at PatriotPaws.org, an organization
whose mission is to train and provide service dogs
to disabled American veterans and others with mo
bile disabilities in memory of his beloved Dickel-dog.
Moody-Daniel Funeral Home is assisting the family
with arrangements.

Jesus Is Easy To Find
“i revealed myself to those who did not ask for me; I was
found by those who did not seek me!’ Isaiah 65: 1, 2
Did you know there’s something God isn’t good at?! And, it’s a kids’ game
we have all played, Hide-and-seek. Remember what fun it was searching
for the perfect place to hide and not moving a muscle so that you wouldn’t
give away your hiding place? The rush of adrenaline when you were finally
found.
Then there were all those great detective skills you had to put into use when
it was your turn to be “it.” Keeping your ears open for the slightest sound.
Watching for the slightest clue that would reveal a player’s location: a piece
of clothing sticking out of a closet door, a pile of laundry piled a little too
high, a slight movement behind the curtains, etc.
In playing this game, most people don’t want to be found. Playing it
with God is different. He doesn’t seem to know the rules. Instead of making
Himself hard to find, God always seems to give away his “location.” Some
times he makes it almost impossible to miss Him!
Seek God through His Word and in prayer and you’ll be sure to find him.
