It is about overcoming obstacles, accountability and pushing yourself to do your best. It allows students to start with a blank slate and cre ate a finished product that they can be proud of. We can lead them and teach them the skills, but at the end of the day, they’re the ones on that stage making it happen,” said Bush. “I love the bonds theatre creates and the sense of be longing that they gain from being a part of something great.” > V tm # ^ -s*. / \i - |j|vi rf - -l i sl y ... 1 d ^ J Wm "“4 /iy,-v- jSjjk j \ ■T" ■ '|B|^ 1 Iri . . li.llBlj BL -- B ■ ■Hr ^ R; 1 - - WjijUt amM ityj SUBMITTED PHOTOS Students who helped Pike County High School earn the Region Runners Up honor at the Region 2AAA One-Act Play Competition include Elizabeth Harvey, Allie Patterson, Will Pitts, Mark Riglin, Katherine Thayer, Kyndal Tharpe, Jordan Bartlett, Rachel Licari, Lyla Carroll, Isaiah Carroll, Harley Clay, Abby Kinard, Davis Huber, Hayden Pugh, Anna Edwards, Jackson Bush, Hannah Wilson, Raine Ivester, Riley Deel, Elijah Paschal, Aisley Sampler, Cameron Smith, Ali Gregg, Daisy Bahin, Will Pitts, Abigail Moore, Wesley Cagle, Kayson McCard, Alicen Turpin, Mackenzie Hays, Stellar Huckaby, Micah Martin, Aubree McLendon, John Sulewski, Kaleb Benton, Sharon Rigdon, Emmalee Hernandez and Kole McLean. Her oldest grandson Zane Lee fired up her wood stove in her ‘old kitchen’ in Lifsey Springs and cooked the biscuits along with sausage, bacon, eggs, grits with cheese and coffee. “My mama taught me to make biscuits way, way back yonder,” said Rosalee. “1 couldn’t have been very old, about 6 years old, I just could see the table... I’ve been mak ing biscuits a long time. When my Mama taught me how to make biscuits, we didn’t have a rolling pin so we just used our hands to pat them out and stick them in the stove. Making those biscuits the other night was a lot of fun. It was good to eat with family in the old kitchen.” PHOTOS BY ELISSA WARBURTON At left, Rosalee King rolls out the biscuits.
