QBITUARIE.
Mary Meadows
Mrs. Mary Laney Meadows, age 92, of Zebulon,
wife of the late George Richard Meadows who retired
as a Lieutenant with the City of Atlanta Police Depart
ment, and the daughter of
the late George Vasco Laney
and Alline Studdard Laney,
passed away March 10, 2021.
She was employed as an
office supervisor with the
State of Georgia, Human Re
sources in the Social Security
Disability Section in Decatur,
Georgia, retiring in 1984. She
moved to Madison, GA where
she resided for 17 years and
was an active member of
Centennial Baptist Church in
Rutledge, GA. She moved to Zebulon, GA in 2001, to
be near her daughter and grandsons and has been an
active member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Griffin,
GA since that time.
She dedicated her life to being an extraordinary
mother, grandmother and friend. She was their great
est advocate supporting all family members and
friends alike through the many passions and difficul
ties of their lives. Her mission in life was to improve
the lives of others.
She was passionate about nature, and when she
wasn’t filling her home with warmth and kindness,
she could be found in her garden working with flow
ers or feeding birds. She loved God and was guided
in thought and action by His word.
Survivors include her daughter: Cathy Meadows
Takle (Leiv); son: Ted Richard Meadows; grandsons:
Jason Scott Willis (Jessie) and Shane Keith Willis
(Jennifer); great-granddaughter: Sarah Willis; neph
ews: Jere Laney Pruett (Rita) and William “Sonny”
Pruett (Donna); niece: Patricia Scoby (Duane); her
special friend and companion: James Cook; and
great-nephews, great-nieces, cousins and wonderful
Christian friends.
A funeral service was held on Sunday, March 14, at
12 noon in the chapel of Moody-Daniel Funeral Home
with Pastor Harvey Wilson officiating. Burial followed
in Fairview Memorial Gardens in Stockbridge.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to
Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, 14550 US 19, Griffin, GA
30224.
Moody-Daniel Funeral Home assisted the family
with arrangements.
Susan Whitaker Kelley
On March 2, 2021, Susan Whitaker Kelley, loving
mother and wife, passed away at the age of 73 in
Canton, Georgia.
Susan was born in 1948 in
Kinston, North Carolina to
the late A1 and Helen Whita
ker. She attended Grangier
High School and Campbell
University. In 1970, she joined
Delta Airlines as a flight at
tendant and became engaged
to Phillip Kelley of Hudson,
Michigan. They married in
1971 and settled in Concord,
Georgia where they raised
their family. Throughout her
life, Susan worked as a school
teacher and volunteered for various charities.
Susan’s family and friends remember her as a
compassionate, kind-hearted person who never met
a stranger. She had a passion for gardening, cooking,
animals and small-talk. Susan enjoyed reading, watch
ing movies, and spending time with her family and
friends, especially her four granddaughters. Growing
up near the coast, Susan loved being at the beach
and spent most summers in Hatteras, North Carolina
with her family. She also enjoyed the mountains of
North Georgia, where she lived for the latter part of
her life.
Susan is survived by her husband, Phillip Kelley,
her daughters, Laura Yates, Laura Hemschot, Leigh
Chandler and Lesley Kelley, her granddaughters, Han
nah and Sophia Hemschot and Olivia and Alexandra
Chandler, her brothers, Rom and Bill Whitaker as well
as her large extended family. She was preceded in
death by her parents, A1 and Helen Whitaker and her
sister, Helen Carter.

Christopher Drake Ard, 22, affixing materials that
reduce or increase light transmission/reflectance of
window, DUI alcohol and warrants out of Butts County.
Montayvion Devon Daniels, 17, simple assault fam
ily violence;
Zatorian Rashad Jester Jr., 18, possession of fire
arm or knife during commission of or attempt to com
mit certain crimes, two counts purchase, possession,
manufacture, distribution or sale of marijuana;
Levi Edwin Mincey, 33, aggravated stalking and pro
bation violation;
Caymen Santron Wellmaker, 17, defective equip
ment, driving without a valid license, giving false
name, address or birthdate to law enforcement officer,
improper tag display and possession of amphetamine;
Zachary Scott Bowen, 30, DUI;
Jermaine Alexis Disola, 47, altering, forging, coun
terfeiting motor vehicle certificate of title, buy, sell,
etc. motor vehicle, or part which serial numbers have
been altered, two counts first degree forgery, removal
of falsification of motor vehicle or engine identifica
tion number with intent and felony theft by receiving
stolen property;
Marion Marshall Jr, 44, adult restraint law seat belt vio
lation and driving while license suspended or revoked;
Timothy Michael Morgan, 49, disorderly conduct;
Briana Tashira Thornton, 25, driving motor vehicle
on suspended, cancelled or revoked registration and
possession of marijuana less than one ounce.
ZEBULON POLICE DEPARTMENT:
Edward Darnell Felipa, 35, DUI alcohol, DUI less
safe and failure to drive within single lane;
Gordon Blake Hobbs, 21, failure to drive within
single lane, DIO alcohol, DUI less safe and open con
tainer in vehicle;
Jasmine Rachelle Miley, 29, drugs not in original
container, purchase, possession or have control of
any controlled substance in Schedule 111.

Riley Chancellor Nuce
Riley Chancellor Nuce, age 16, of Meansville, Ga.,
passed away Sunday, March 7, 2021.
Riley was born on May 25, 2004, in Bibb County, to
Derek Chad Nuce and Diane
Chancellor Nuce. He was a
student at Pike County High
School, was on the basketball
team and ran track and cross
country. He was also a mem
ber of the Pike County FFA
and the Pike County Fellow
ship of Christian Athletes.
Survivors include his par
ents, Chad and Diane Nuce
of Meansville, brother, Colby
Nuce of Meansville, pater
nal grandmother, Carolyn
Lawhon of Griffin, grandfather, Lawrence Morgan
(Linda) Nuce of Las Vegas, maternal grandparents,
Brian (Ruth) Chancellor of Griffin, uncles, David
(Ashley) Chancellor, Richard Bishoff, aunt, Rhonda
(Lance) Landrum, great-aunt, Katie Fews, and cous
ins, Tori Chancellor, Alex Chancellor, Ella Chancellor,
Shelby Ericsson, Dominic Agnes, Dylan Agnes and
Ryan Agnes.
The family received friends on Tuesday, March 9,
2021 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Coggins Funeral Home.

Joseph ‘JoJo’ Lee Murphy
Joseph “JoJo” Lee Murphy, age 38, of Zebulon,
passed away March 13, 2021. He grew up in Lovejoy
and graduated from Lovejoy High School where he
played football and partici
pated in rodeos. JoJo always
worked hard. As the Opera
tions Manager for a family
business, M&M Contractors
of Pike LLC, he put in long
hours, but he always had
time to spend with his family.
He was the life of every party
and had a smile that would
light up a room. He enjoyed
hunting, fishing, camping and
the outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Michelle
Singletary and his uncle Wilbur Roberts.
He is survived by his wife: Kristie Murphy; chil
dren: Dierion Tryan, Brandon Hudson, Wyatt Mur
phy, Rylie Dixon and Hank Murphy; parents: Cheryl
and Joe Murphy, Jr.; nephew and niece: Thomaslee
Singletary and Victoria Singletary; mother-in-law
and father-in-law: Jerry and Judy Scott; father-in-law:
Roger Tryan; sisters-in-law: Brandi Tryan-Allen and
Tiara Tryan-Allen; and brother-in-law: Michael Tryan.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March
20, 2021 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Moody-Daniel
Funeral Home with Pastor George Moseley officiating.
Burial will follow in the Jonesboro City Cemetery.
Friends may visit the family on Saturday from noon
to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Many years ago, this sign hung in one of the Sunday school rooms
at the church I was attending. That quote has always stuck with me.
It has brought me so much comfort over the years. No matter what
I was going through, no matter how rough times were, I knew that
for me the best was yet to come because as a little girl I had accepted
Jesus as my Savior. Eve been through many hard times and sometimes
it seemed as if I was walking through hell. We all go through times
like that. I would remember that little sign that hung in the church.
It would bring me so much comfort knowing that the only hell I will
ever walk through is here in this old sinful world.
My best is yet to come. Heaven is my eternity! Where is your
