CASA volunteers sworn in;
next training is April 15

City were sworn in as
CASA (Court Appointed
Special Advocate) volun
teers on Friday, March
26 by judge Stephen Ott.
“As CASA volunteers,
these two will advocate
for the best interests of
children in foster care
and will help the chil
dren find permanent,
loving homes as quickly
as possible. We are so
pleased to have these
two compassionate
women advocating for
the foster children in
our community,” said
Advo-Kids CASA volun
teer coordinator Han
nah Haden. “Children in
foster care need you. To

you, too, can change a

Red Clay Ministries,
Inc., provides Ministry
headers to jails and
prisons in Georgia. If
a jail or prison has a
chaplain, the Red Clay
Ministry header comes
alongside the chaplain to
provide worship services
and other needs such as
Bibles, Christian litera
ture, holiday programs,
Bible studies and hygiene
products. However, many
of the county jails do
not have chaplains. If a
facility does not have a
chaplain, the Red Clay
Ministry header works
with the jail administra
tion to provide Christian
headership in the jail by
providing Worship Ser
vices and Bible Studies
to those incarcerated at
the jail.
“The mission of Red
Clay Ministries, Inc. is
to identify and meet the
physical, emotional, and
spiritual needs of those
incarcerated, so that
the saving love of Jesus
Christ will be shared
behind the razor wire,”

County’s budget hearings planned
The Pike County board
of commissioners will
be presented the rec
ommended Fiscal Year
2021-22 budget during its
regular monthly meeting
Wednesday, April 14 at
9 a.m. in the main court
room upstairs in the
courthouse.
Public hearings will be
held to give citizens an
opportunity to address
the board about the
proposed budget. Public
hearings will be held at 1
p.m. Thursday, April 22
and at 1 p.m. Tuesday,
May 4 which will be fol
lowed by the first read
ing. The second reading
of the budget will be at
6:30 p.m. Thursday, May
20 and the third reading
and final adoption is set
for 5:30 p.m. Tuesday,
May 25. All meetings will
be in the main court
room.

posed fiscal year 2021-22
budget will be available
at the J. Joel Edwards
Public Fibrary at 585

Zebulon and also in the
commissioner’s office at
331 Thomaston Street,

Pike County band students will host a Mattress Fundraiser with more than 25 types of mat
tresses for sale at the high school cafeteria on April 24 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

styles from 10 a.m. to
5 p.m. Saturday, April
24. Funds from the sale
will help raise funds for
the Pike County Pirate
Regiment to purchase
equipment such as new
instruments, uniforms
and more.
“This event went
well last time we had it,
and I personally bought
a mattress that 1 love!
The deals are great, and
the music department
made a nice profit from
the sale,” said director
of bands Fee Ewing. “If
people are in need of
any mattresses for their
house, or if any business
needs mattresses, or if
any charitable organiza
tions are looking to do
nate to needy families,
this event could help
them support various
groups at once! The big
gest needs for the Pirate
Regiment currently
are new instruments,
especially sousaphones
which are about $5,000
each and drum line
equipment which is
about $12,000 total.”

Pike County Republican Party
to Hold Caucus and County Convention
On Saturday, April 17,2021, at 9:00 a.m., the Pike County Republican Party
will convene Precinct Caucuses to elect Delegates and Alternates Delegates to
the Pike County Republican Party Convention. The Pike County Republican
Party Convention will convene at 10:00 a.m. on April 17, 2021, for the purpose
of electing county party officers, Delegates, and Alternates to the Congressional
District Convention, and the State Convention. Additionally, the Convention will
conduct all other business as necessary.
Both the Precinct Caucuses and County Convention will be held at McLeRoy
Inc. at Pike Plaza located at 200 Plaza Drive, Zebulon, Georgia, 30295.
Registration will open at 8:30 a.m.
All Pike County residents who are legally registered to vote and who believe
in the principles of the Republican Party are urged to participate in the
process. Delegates and Alternates will be required to pay a fee of $10, which
is to cover the cost of the County Convention.

The 3 rd Congressional District Convention will convene on Saturday, May 15,
2021, at 10:00 a. m. The District Convention will be electing officers for the
District and State Committee members for the next biennial.
The Georgia Republican Party State Convention will convene at 2:00 P.M. on
Friday, June 4, 2021, in a location to be determined and will elect state party
officers for the next biennial, in addition to conducting all other business as
necessary.
Delegates and Alternates will be required to pay a fee, which is to cover the
cost of the Convention.
