CITY OF CONCORD
Notice of Wastewater Spill
On the 13 of April 2021 around 1130 the City Wastewater Supervisor was advised of
an odor similar to wastewater near the Bennett Storage Buildings on Roberts Quarters
Rd.
After a brief investigation wastewater was found escaping from the manhole behind
the storage buildings and making its way into the creek that runs behind the buildings.
Wastewater main was jetted and the clog removed around 1745. Multiple passes were
made with the jetter to ensure all debris was released. The area around the manhole
was cleaned and lime applied. Spill signs were placed in both directions of the roadway
where the creek crosses Robert Quarters Rd.
Calculations reveal approximately 5k gallons escaped from the time of notification
until the clog was removed. Cause of the clog was determined to be from wipes and
feminine hygiene products.
Stephanie Edwards with the EPD, Ben Trotter with Pike Co HD and Pike Co Journal
Reporter were contacted on the 14 th regarding the spill and its resolution.

The Pike County Planning Commission will conduct a special called meeting on April 29, 2021 at
6:30 p.m. on the second floor of the Pike County Courthouse located at 16001 Barnesville Street, Zeb
ulon, Georgia. The Planning Commission will conduct a PUBLIC HEARING on the following items:
(1) Rezoning application, REZ-21-01, Jennifer Gilow & Angie Woodall, applicants, and Cecelia
Carol McGuffey, owner, are requesting a rezoning from P-I, Professional-Institutional to C-2, General
Commercial for the property located at 3022 US Hwy 19, Meansville, GA 30256. The subject property
