2021 Baccalaureate Service set for May 23
The 2021 Baccalaure
ate Service and celebra
tion for Pike County
graduates will be held
Sunday, May 23 at 5
p.m. at Oak Hill Baptist
Church in Williamson.
The service is co-spon
sored by Prayer Power of
Georgia and Pike County
Christian Ministerial Asso
ciation and hosted by Oak
Hill Baptist Church. The
service is for all 2021 grad
uates from Pike County,
their families, friends and
the community.
This year the message
will be delivered by Rev.
Shane Moore, youth pas
tor at Life Springs Church
in Meansville. The wor
ship music will be led by
Olivia White and Robin
Jones with special music
by one of the graduates.
There will be a special
moment for Jamori Wil
liams.
“We believe this will
be a great start to com
mencement week, setting
the tone and giving the
students a spiritual send-
off for commencement
week,” said Ben Maxe-
don of Prayer Power of
Georgia. “It will encour
age them not only for
now but also a message
they can carry with them
through their lives as
they go on to college and
careers. We look forward
to all graduates being
there. We look forward to
having an excellent ser
vice that will be spiritu
ally encouraging for the
graduates and everyone
else in attendance.”

May 31, the parade to start at 10 a.m., followed by
the program on the south side of the courthouse
square. The them is “The History and Meaning of

Pike County American Legion 5K/10K Fun Run/
Walk: Set for Saturday, June 19 in Meansville, start
the event between 7:30 and 10 a.m., choose between
a 5K (3.1 miles) or a 1 OK (6.2 miles) course. Early
registration is $25, and the deadline is June 11. Late
and day-of registration is $35. Everyone who regis

Pike County Memorial Day
parade, program set for May 31
On Monday, May 31,
the Pike County Ameri
can Legion Family will
host the annual Memorial
Day Observance Parade
and Program at the south
side of the Pike County
courthouse square in
Zebulon, Georgia. The
public is invited to attend
these special events.
The parade will com
mence at 10 a.m., fol
lowed by the program.
“The Memorial Day
Program provides the
community the opportu
nity to reflect on those
service members who
have died defending our
great American freedoms,
as well as recognizing
those veterans associ
ated with Pike County
who have died since the
previous Memorial Day
in 2020,” said Post 197
commander Bryan Rich
ardson.
The theme of this
year’s program is “The
History and Meaning of
Memorial Day.” High
lights of the program
will include the opening
prayer, the posting of
the colors, the National
Anthem, the POW/MIA
tribute, Memorial Day
remarks, a tribute to
Pike County veterans
who passed away since
last Memorial Day, the
posting of the wreath at
the Pike County Veterans
Memorial, a moment of
silence, Taps and a clos
ing prayer.
“Seating is limited,
so the public is encour
aged to bring their lawn
chairs. Please consider
attending these events to
hear some things you’ve
never heard before, and
have fun socializing,”
said Richardson.
In case of inclement
weather, the program will
be in the main court
room of the courthouse.

other to escape lawful custody or confinement;
Nathan Cole Fuller, 31, serving sentence;
Joshua Andrew Smith, 31, warrants out of Monroe
County;
Vernando Alexander Smith, 50, probation violation
(when probation terms are altered) for fingerprint-
able charge;
Morgan Tyler Ard, 22, defective equipment, no
tag light, defective equipment, driving while license
suspended or revoked;
Kimberly Alexis Campbell, 20, identity theft fraud
when using/possessing identity information concern
ing another person;
Thomas Joseph Gonzalez, 18, reckless driving;
Amber Payne, 32, possession of marijuana less
than one ounce;
Samantha Mechelle Sealey, 22, expired or no regis
tration or title, fleeing or attempting to elude a police
office, knowingly driving motor vehicle on suspend
ed, canceled or revoked registration, no insurance
and reckless driving.
