Construction of Southern Rivers Energy’sfiber network is a complex process involving multiple
contractors and a mix of overhead and underground fiber construction. The actual time it takes to
complete the project can vary, depending on weather, terrain, soil, availability of materials and
other external factors. The current estimate for completing SRE’s fiber network is about three years.

online at gta-vras.power-
appsportals.us or by
calling 1-888-457-0186.

citizens - in the state
were fully vaccinated as

The fiber network
design is following the
existing electrical infra
structure.
Where power lines
are overhead, the fiber
will attach to the poles;
wherever SRE has under
ground service, the fiber
will be installed under
ground.
Fiber construction
crews start at the substa
tions and work their way
outward following each
circuit. They build it,
splice it, test it and then
release it. Once a circuit
has been tested and re
leased, Conexon Connect
will begin contacting
members in that area to
subscribe.
SRE members who
sign up for fiber internet
service while construc
tion crews are in the area
will not pay a connection
fee, regardless of the dis
tance from their house to
the road.
“The main thing
everyone wants to know
is when fiber internet
service will be available
in their neighborhood.
Although we have an
estimated timeline, the
actual start date de
pends on when we finish
the make-ready engineer
ing and construction,”
said Cook.
“Right now, we plan
to start make-ready
construction for the
areas served by the
Tobesofkee substation
in late June or early July.
While we are still months
away from beginning the
actual fiber construc
tion, Connect anticipates
