Recipe for life with Jesus
“For our gospel came not into you in word only,
but also in power!’ I Thessalonians 1:5
Your friend calls and invites you to come over for some apple pie.
You love apple pie! Your taste buds start doing a happy dance just think
ing about it. You stop in the middle of cleaning to go enjoy this piece
of delicious apple pie which is waiting for you. You get to your friends
house, but it doesn’t smell like apple pie. You uncover the pie dish which
sits on the table and there it is a recipe for apple pie. It was apple pie
alright, but only in words! It didn’t do anything for your craving and
dancing taste buds. You come home and start getting out all of the in
gredients that the recipe calls for. But, you still don’t have a real apple
pie. You must apply the power of a mixer and oven. Then it will be a
sweet apple pie that you can enjoy.
Friends, the Bible is our recipe for a sweet life with Jesus, but it’s just
words written on paper. Jesus came so we could have life and life more
abundantly. But, tor us to have that kind of life, we must apply the recipe
to our life and apply power to it. Written by, Machelle McCoy
