Molena to get new website
BY DWAIN W. PENN
news@pikecountygeorgia.com
Mayor Joyce Corley
convened the May 10
meeting of Molena council
at city hall. Following a pe
riod of Facebook use and
discovering limitations,
council approved the
acquisition of a website
through Master Services.
A short list of benefits
was created and the far-
reaching scope exceeded
the simple aspect of post
ing. Those postings, for
which Facebook was ideal,
included announcements
of monthly meetings and
workshops plus agendas
and minutes for the same.
Breaking through the bar
rier to an unlimited virtual
world, residents will be
able to pay bills, see the
annual millage rate and its
effect on property taxes
and read monthly police
department activity.
Important notices of
both pending and emer
gency repairs of the water
system in tandem with
text and email notices,
can be included.
The greatest benefit of
a website is sharing the
numerous amenities of
Molena, attracting visi
tors to the city to support
local businesses. Some of
those attractions are the
old jail, historic downtown
buildings, historic cem
etery, walking track, tennis
courts and the spacious
pavilion (including avail
ability and rental cost).
Perhaps the great
est aspect of Molena,
especially in light of the
pandemic, is the Molena
Outreach Center thrift
store in the old Methodist
Church dispensing food
pantry items and provid
ing a variety of other com
munity assistance. For
years the success of the
center has been due to
dedicated volunteers and
continued donations.
The cost to create the
website through Master
Services is $550 plus a
monthly fee of $550 that
includes various benefits
including cyber security.
To defray some of that ex
pense, council approved
allowing advertisements
on the website. A variety
of ad options will be avail
able from basic to premi
um. All advertisers will be
listed on the website and
if the option is purchased,
a link will tie the listing to
an ad or separate page on
the website or elsewhere,
such as an advertiser’s
own website.
COUNCIL ALSO:
• Heard the Little Man
na food pantry/bank will
soon have a warehouse on
Depot Street. Until then,
the outreach is dispensing
crates of food at the pavil
ion on Fridays at 1 p.m. for
a $10 donation.
• Learned the new po
lice department Explorer
will be “built” in Griffin,
ready for service in two
days.
• Heard the wireless
internet service should
be operational within a
month and expand from
there. Initial cost is $291,
$326 if a pole is needed.
• Approved to ac
cept among sealed bid
received, $200 for the
Impala and $300 for the
truck.

“God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not
human, so he does not change his mind. Has he
ever spoken and failed to acts Has he ever prom
ised and not carried it through?”
Numbers 23:19
I admit that I have commitment issues. I’ve been lied
to, let down and left in the dust too many times not to
question who and what I commit to.
Often times we compare God’s love and commitment to
us to the lack of love and commitment that others have
shown us.
But, God’s loyalty and love for us was shown even with
the death of His only Son. So if you don’t walk in any oth
er promise today; walk in the security and promise that
God is not a human that He would lie or change His mind
about how madly in love He is with you.
