14U All Stars head to World Series in Louisiana

team. They will head for New
Orleans to play in the Little
League World Series soon.
The Pike County 14U
All Stars are headed to
the USSSA World Series in
Chalmette, LA just outside
New Orleans from July 7
to 11. They earned first
place in the All Star Warm
Up tournament and won
first place undefeated in
the Sub-State tournament.
They also competed in the
All Star state tournament
in McDonough.
“We are asking for
donations and sponsors
to help cover the cost of
the trip for the players
as they have worked so
hard to get this far. Coach
Allen Beavers is extremely
proud of these boys for
their hard work, long
hours of practice and
their dedication and love
of the game,” said Kim
Beavers. “They have
showed up and played
their hearts out and this
would be a great oppor
tunity for all them to play
in the World Series. We
have set up an account
with First Bank of Pike for
any business and anyone
in the community who
would like to help sponsor
the team.”

The Pike County 6U
All Star team is raising
money to attend the
USSSA World Series in
New Orleans, LA after
they won the Out of the
Park All Star Warm Up
Tournament, the USSSA
Sub-State Tournament
and were runners up
in the USSSA Final Four
State Tournament.
The 6U All Stars include
Rowan Basilici, Jamison
Beckham, Beckett Buford,
Russell Elliott, Brycen
Harrill, John Wesley
Hunt, Koah Ivester, Cason
Manley, Beau Mills, Corbin
Rice, Brooks Stephens and
Jase Stone.
The 6U All Star team
is hosting a 50/50 raffle
to help cover the cost of
travel to the World Series
tournament. To donate

in Pike drop to 10
Confirmed cases
of COV1D-19 dropped
to 10 in the last two
weeks according to the
Georgia Department of
Public Health.
There were 10 con
firmed cases in Pike in
the past two weeks and
a total of 1,102 con
firmed cases, 28 deaths,
15 probable deaths and
77 hospitalizations since
the pandemic started.
Vaccinations are now
available for residents
12 and older. To make

through the Health

Monday through Friday
from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
and Saturday through
Sunday from 8 a.m. to
5 p.m. Pfizer is the only
vaccine for children 12
through 17 years old.
In Pike, 23 percent of
citizens are fully vacci
nated at 4,276 citizens.
There are 4,718 citizens
in Pike - or 26 percent
of Pike citizens - who
have at least one dose
of the vaccine.
Statewide, 37 per
cent of citizens are fully
vaccinated and 41 per
cent have at least one
dose of the vaccine.

a box located outside
the Post 197 facility on
Old Meansville Road
where citizens can
place used American
flags throughout the
year to be properly
retired.
DEMARCO: Promoted
to Special Agent in GBI

Prior to joining the
GBI, he worked for the
Georgia Department
of Corrections for six
years. He is a veteran
of the United States
Army. Born in Massa
chusetts, SAC DeMarco
grew up in a military
family, but considers Ze-
bulon in Pike his home.
The GBI is comprised
of four divisions: the
Georgia Crime Informa
tion Center, the Crime
Lab, the Investigative
Division, and the Legal
Division. The GBI has
just over 800 employ
ees and a budget of
$132,482,064. SAC
DeMarco is assigned to
the Investigative
Division.

16U Black Pirates earn championship title
The 16U Black Pirates
earned the end of season
championship recently.
“We had a great regu
lar season with seven
wins and five losses.
The girls got better and
better as the season
progressed and finished
up with three wins one
loss in the end of the
season tournament,
ultimately defeating the
White Pirates 7 to 5 in
the championship game,
said coach Jeff Embrey.
